A cure to many of their ills is hitting some more of their wide-open shots, way to many missed. Right, and that’s why you can’t screw up the winnable games. Do you see that? If you play with effort and win game 1, a game like this just feels like an off night. If you play with effort and execution, this game wouldn’t even be happening. |

What is Mazzulla talking about “gotta do better on the rim reads?” How about this for coaching:
“Push the damn ball as fast as you f****** can until the fat stars on the other team are bent over.”

Philly is completely dominating this game - they are setting the pace. The Celtics are reacting. They are getting nothing from Rob Williams - really nothing consistent from anyone except (finally) Tatum - When Boston let Philly off the hook in game 4, it set up this situation. Celtics never really played - pressure of the game was in their heads.

They really need to stop with the double teams and traps. This is the wrong team for that.

This team is a joke and it's pretty clear Mazzulla is not a good coach.

Harden doesn’t need a double team. Have they not watched James Harden play basketball? He may be the best passer out of double teams in the history of the league.
Also why take Tatum out? He had 15 points in the third quarter.

Brown and Tatum taking turns stat padding in the second half, but they sucked ass in this game. This game makes me wish we explore other options at HC for next season and I’ve always been a fan of Budenholzer.

The entire team has regressed defensively. They’re just so poorly coached on that end, and it shows.
A real coach would have the guts to make the necessary lineup changes (less Marcus, more Rob), but the Celtics have an intern coaching the team right now.

This is a total clock cleaning. Not a single Celtic played close to good tonight - despite what the stats sheet says. Center position outscored 33 to 4.
And weirdly - if they took the two first losses seriously as games, they could have swept. Game 1 and game 4 sealed the deal to where we are.

Turned it off after the Maxey 3. Just an unacceptable effort at home.
Think we lose in 6 now. Joke of a team and no game plan from a clearly lost coach.

I've been advocating trading Smart since he won the defensive player of the year award, figuring you could get back more than he's worth. That and while I do appreciate his immeasurable abilities its his measurable abilites that leave me drained, taking way to many shots way way to often. |

Now listening to Grandy and Max. They said it was hard to tell if the Celtics were playing poorly, or not playing hard enough. Kind of funny watching Pritchard hitting these threes. Where has he been?
I've been hesitant to pile too hard on Mazzula, but if a team has superior talent and lays these kinds of stinkers, you have to look at the coach. He is not reaching his star players. To my eyes, Tatum has been off since the All Star game despite some big stats games. The distance between he and Embiid is just huge.

Where has he been? I think they were playing poorly. I do think they need to play with more pace, but the shooting was horrendous. This is why the bs in game 1 and game 4 really matters. |
