I’d like to see what’s the Mets asking price for Luis Guillorme: plays some mean defense all across the infield, hard to strike out and sports a sexy 11.5 career BB%.

He’d be a great fit. How about offering Brandon Walter?

Have to admit. I found it kind of jarring to see Aaron Judge be named Yankees captain without thinking the Sox should have had a similar press conference about a year ago with an extended Xander Bogaerts being given the C on his shirt for being named Red Sox captain, which like Varitek before him, he truly was. I know it's an unimportant symbolic type of thing but I really think the Sox missed the boat there in so many ways. As an aside I could never figure out why Pedroia and Ortiz weren't named co-captains of the Sox. Pedroia and Ortiz were literally the heart and soul of the Red Sox in that era. Maybe because Judge did not spend the whole season bellyaching through his agent but instead went out and put up one of the most incredible seasons in the history of MLB ?

Not to rehash Xander again, but there's a big difference in the two situations. At the time it was offered, 7/210 was a reasonable contract for Judge, and he decided to bet on himself. Xander was essentially offered 4/90, which was laughable even then. Can't fault him for "bellyaching" over that.

Cohen already trying to shed some salaries to cut costs, poverty franchise smh Huh. Kinda odd pickup for the Orioles. Makes a ton more sense when you learn that the Mets are paying 19m of the 24m he's owed the next 2 years.

True, but if I were an O’s fan I’d still be wondering why this and Kyle Gibson was my off season after an exciting run last year. I am just glad I’m not an O’s fan, I guess.

And Adam Frazier and Mychal Givens (and AJ Politi!) but yeah, your point stands. I don't know that this is the year (and division) to go all-in quite yet. As exciting as the young core they're building is, giving Adley, Henderson, Mountcastle, Hall, and GrayRod another year to get their MLB sea legs may not be the worst thing. More importantly, the ownership of the team is up in the air: theathletic.com/3623328/2022/09/23/baltimore-orioles-goldman-sale-angelos/

Completely spaced on Guillorme — makes a lot of sense now that the Mets have Correa at 3B and would imaginably defer to Escobar as their IF utility. I think Walter is too much for him, but would be open trading someone like Bonaci for him.

Bauer reinstated according to multiple sources. Fascinating. What do the Dodgers do? The guy is radioactive… but he’s really good. And they are paying him. Do they eat that money? Would someone trade for him if they footed a lot of the bill?

Would someone trade for him if they footed a lot of the bill? Reports are that the Dodgers are releasing him. If that’s the case Red Sox should buy a prospect by taking on Bauer and all the money. Pages or Vargas and a huge upgrade to the rotation would be an absolute steal.

Dodgers apparently likely to release him (Nightengale report). Which team will pick him up? Do the Guardians make it a Cleveland thing?

I mean… so hard. I sort of think Yankees? Makes them even more hateable. But he is *good* so is it worth it?

Dodgers like $3 million under the luxury tax now. They're trying to stay under I think this year, to reset. Unless I'm wrong about that?

Honestly the team that would make sense is the Phillies. Get an ace on the cheap when you are all in but also playing for a WC.

I honestly don't remember the alleged bellyaching. X was asked about his contract a few times and gave non-hyperbolic responses. What did Boras say that was outside the boundaries of what agents usually say about clients coming up on FA? He was probably the one who leaked the laughable offer to the press. But that's on the Red Sox for making the offer in the first place. Did they think it wouldn't become public? And why shouldn't it become public? We support the team, so we're entitled to information.

If someone is going to take on Bauer, I'll root for it to be the Astros. We're in Stop the MFYs mode for the next two years, at least.
