Maybe Giants call the Sox and try to get Devers and then give him the biggest extention. What would be fair value? I doubt they would want ti give up the 16th or 21st ranked prospects in baseball and after that they have no one in the top 100. Though, I guess if it's a sign and trade they'd be more open to parting with a top prospect. I don't know much about their system.

A reminder that there is a trade subforum to discuss hypothetical trades.
Also, let's keep this thread to a discussion of Correa.
Thanks.

I guess because it was shorter term but why didn't any of these concerns come up last year w Twins? Or in FA in general (e.g. from Astros on why they might let him go)?

As Scott Boras' #1 superfan, even I will admit that he deserves this after dabbing on the Giants in the media all week

Kind of confusing, did they not share the medical report issue with the Mets before agreeing? Maybe the Mets were just like screw it we’ll see for ourselves? But you’d think they at least would ask what the issue is and be clear they’re checking it out.

He might end up back in Minnesota after all.
Wasn’t this some 8-year-old ankle thing? How bad can it be? This is one of the stranger stories in baseball in a long time.

In my current head canon which may or may not reflect reality, this has been a constant debilitating issue for Correa and he has gone to extreme lengths to hide it, even faking back injuries to cover for time he needed to miss because of it. Alex Cora's close relationship with him is why we had no interest.

Hahaha But seriously, his leg is probably really messed up and not healing right.

Alex Cora's close relationship with him is why we had no interest. This is probablyyyy not the case right, but frankly with how absurd this is getting it sounds more plausible than some other scenarios. There has got to be something really weird and unique going on here. Either surgeries not having healed right, the childhood ankle thing being a lot bigger of a deal than people thought, idk. But this is going to be a juicy story to follow this holiday season lol. I have a hard time believing he’s still getting a long term deal like that if two separate clubs have serious concerns, one of which literally acts like money does not exist in their world.

The major philospher and life coach, Smokey Robinson, would like to address this situation. Been here a long time lurking and a shorter time posting. This is one of the harder laughs I’ve had on here for some reason, and it’s not like these forums don’t make me laugh a good amount (there’s some people with good humor in here lol). Edit to say this is now gonna be stuck in my head all day at my family’s Christmas Eve party lol. “Just because you’ve become a young man nowwww…”

I think the solution to the Correa dilemma is obvious.
He should sign with his 3rd team for less money, take a physical, flunk, and then Boras can get Correa to his 4th team for less $ and then he can flunk that physical.
At some point, after about 20 teams have signed him for increasingly less $, Bloom can step in with a 3 year 39 million Cherington special and Correa can sign with the Sox and then flunk the physical.
Eventually after being signed by 29 teams and flunking 29 physicals, Correa can sign a minor league deal with the Pirates for league minimum.
Problem solved!

If the Mets walk away from Corea, maybe they get into an emotional bidding war with the Giants for another star third baseman.

Correa may have to go back to year to year contracts, which could put the Sox in the bidding for 2-3 years of Correa.

Correa may have to go back to year to year contracts, which could put the Sox in the bidding for 2-3 years of Correa. This is exactly why staying over the cap at the deadline was so stupid. We would be in a great position right now for that.

Since we're quoting great song lyrics today, may I present Kenny Rogers, not the LH pitcher, lol You've got to know when to hold 'em Know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away Know when to run Yeah, they should have folded them last year in late July/early August. Lol
