Arizona beating Tennessee will end up being one of the better wins of the year, even if it was essentially a home game for Arizona. Interesting that the much vaunted SEC “only” went 9-5 on Opening Day. Granted 2 of those losses were to ranked teams and a third to another Power 5 school, but still, Georgia losing to Jacksonville State and Kentucky (program is in a bad state right now) getting blanked by Elon is probably not an ideal start. Froze my tail off to watch Opening Day last night, heading back in an hour or so to watch Day 2, the opposing starter had a 7+ ERA last year so hoping for some more offensive production. Also ended up getting home in time to watch my alma mater score 8 runs in the 8th on only 4 or 5 hits. Bases loaded walk, bases loaded HBP, bases loaded walk, bases loaded HBP… not pretty baseball

Brady Neal is going to be a STAR in college baseball! Off to a great start, but we can at least wait till conference play of freshman year before we crown anyone. Who gets snatched up out of HS after the true top guys can be a bit of a crap shoot, but it does seem like LSU ought to be thanking their lucky stars Neal made it to campus.

That's fair but you gotta understand that I was a huge fan of his last year 😅 There's also the fact that: He's incredibly young (He shoud've been a senior in HS) I was very impressed by his defense (Framing, foot work, pop time). His floor is really high if he stays healthy imho

Looks like Brown has some significant control issue. 15 WP and 11 HBP in his 2022 season. K/BB of 65/38. He is a reliever for Ball State. Even in the 11 innings of 1 hit ball this year, he has walked 10 batters. A work in progress, maybe a mid round selection with the hope that his raw talent can be maintained while fixing the control issues.

Dylan Crews was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks today (against Central CT, but still), and is now 17 for 36 with 5 doubles, 2 homers, 11 walks, and 7 Ks. .472/.620/.778, if you're into that kinda thing.

What a spring for your Boston clubs so far.
Boston College and Northeastern both 8-1

What a spring for your Boston clubs so far. Boston College and Northeastern both 8-1 Mike Sirota is off to a great start for NU, if he keeps this up, he's a lock to go into next year as a solidified top 10 draft prospect. Travis Honeyman is off to a sluggish start for BC, hopefully he can find his stride

Another top draft prospect - UVA catcher Kyle Teel - has been hot out of the gate, too: 23 for 40 w/ 4 doubles, 2 homers, 7 walks, and 2 Ks. .575/.646/.825.

Wonder if he'll see the same helium as Henry Davis (but closer to top 15, not top 5)

Travis Honeyman is off to a sluggish start for BC, hopefully he can find his stride Sirota is really really good, he has lead in Northeastern's power boom, they might have close to as many HRs as they hit all of last year already as a team.. I've watched all of the BC games so far, Honeyman is putting up good ABs, and hitting the ball well, some of it not falling. He put on a show Sat in a double header 5-10 w 2 2Bs, a 3B 2 steals and made an unreal leaping catch against the wall to save 3 runs. He also scored on a SB attempt of 2nd that went into the OF. He's not walking a ton, but working counts, and the numbers will look better soon, I think.

Florida's Jac Caglianone leads the nation with 10 HRs in 13 games. He's slashing .385/.448/1.019/1.467.
He's also got a 2.08 ERA in 17.1 IP with 23 Ks and 6 BBs while throwing 98 from the left side.
Kid's a stud. Draft eligible in 2024.

I watch a lot of UVA games, hence the username. Teel has stood out since coming in as a freshman. He can smash the ball and also posts some really impressive plate discipline numbers. He was still a little raw at the plate even last year which is why I think his Cape numbers were meh. But he has the tools and you gotta like guys that walk more than they strikeout. It's a good starting point at least. He is also a legit catcher and his intangibles always get great reviews. Jake Gelof is the other high ranking UVA prospect. He's not the archetype I typically like but he has massive power without as much the swing and miss as you'd think. His brother Zack has done really well for himself in Oakland so maybe that helps Jake out a bit. The Red Sox very rarely draft UVA players, for good reason a lot of the time, but Teel and perhaps Gelof are two guys I would be very excited about. Add: I should also mention Teel's greatest flaw, which is being unable to keep his helmet on as he rounds the bases. He's like Hanley out there.
