When does minor league spring training crank up this year? I need to start reading box scores with names like Bleis, Mayer, Perales, Romero and Anthony.

Not if there will be much in the way of box scores for minor league spring training games. But Chris, Ian, Mike & others (James?) will be there with scouting updates. Not sure of the dates.
Regular season begins 3/31 for Worcester and 4/6 for Portland, Greenville, & Salem.

Minor league spring training games start on Wed 3/15 and run to Fri 3/31. Minor league camp breaks 4/2.
Group headed down starting on Tue 3/14, will be there until Mon 3/20
There won't be box scores but we should have ongoing coverage on our Twitter accounts. Unfortunately Thu 3/16 is an offday.

Any information on the schedule for minor league spring games? I have a blurry photograph of the Minnesota schedule. For Minnesota, games are scheduled from Wednesday 3/15 through Saturday 3/25 (for AAA, since they start the same time as MLB) and through Friday 3/31 (for everyone else). No games scheduled Sundays, and for the Twins, no games listed Friday 3/17, Monday 3/20 or Thursday 3/30. ALL GAMES AGAINST BOSTON except 3/16, 3/24 and 3/28 against Atlanta. Pure speculation: I am wondering if the three non-Sunday dates where the Twins have no games listed are dates where Boston plays Atlanta, and if Boston in turn might not play an external opponent when the Twins play Atlanta. I don't know where the Rays minor leaguers are as I heard different stories about whether they would or wouldn't try to put them in Port Charlotte, where the facility sustained enough hurricane damage that the MLB club can't play there this spring. If folks like puzzles I can post the Mighty Mussels' schedule and you can back out from there which level is at JetBlue when for the (many) Twins/Sox games.

I went to the complex on Saturday but fans were asked to leave well before the minor league intrasquad game started at 1. I was told the minor league games would not be open either.

I'm headed home from spring training today, the other guys are staying a little longer. Some prospects who popped for me were Marvin Alcantara, Luis Ravelo, Christopher Troye, and Andy Lugo. Also heard good things about Shane Drohan and Alex Hoppe. We'll have more detailed reports in the coming week on a bunch of players.
Separately, check out the 2023 projected rosters page, which has been updated. Note that the projection is where we think players will be on opening day. There are a few guys we think might be assigned to levels for short stints before early-ish promotions, and there are a few guys with minor injuries that could start them on the IL briefly. We'll eventually share what we can share on that.

I tried to go to the minor league games today and could not get in as well. I saw Alex Speier walking in and asked him if he knew anything but did not. The staff recommended to come around 9am for practice. Extremely disappointed in this decision by the Red Sox.

Yeah they've actually continued not letting people attend games. Workouts in the morning are open to the public.

Yeah they've actually continued not letting people attend games. Workouts in the morning are open to the public. Do you have any insight as to why? I talked to a random person who felt it was a covid hold over policy. Do they let scouts from other teams attend?

Yeah scouts and media can attend. Believe I've seen families maybe?
No insight as to why they kept it.

As I understand it they are very short-staffed as far as security, ushers etc. Not everyone came back to work after the COVID shutdown. I think they just don't have enough employees to handle the general public in the afternoons.
It has usually been the case that things are more low key at the Twins complex, FWIW.

I would have to imagine that several of the employees were affected by the hurricane and it's aftermath.

More evidence that Alex Speier is the best. He was unaware of the policy when I asked yesterday and it appears that he took action to address the problem.

Is the SP team all able to get media credentials for spring training and the minor league season? Have you ever had trouble with other stadiums or organizations?

First wave of minor league cuts: BJ Vela, Bryan Lucas, Blake Loubier, and Osvaldo De La Rosa.

We get to the back fields without problem. MLB games are harder - I had to get a guest pass to do NESN the other day. Tried to get credentials for the MLB games one year and I guess the policy is only outlets that regularly cover the team get credentialed.

First wave of minor league cuts: BJ Vela, Bryan Lucas, Blake Loubier, and Osvaldo De La Rosa. Every spring training there's a player that I finally get in game action instead of drills or long toss or general candid shots... who then immediately gets cut. Sorry, Blake.
