The A's have 45 runs in six games against Houston, and 55 in 13 games against notHouston.

At least while WMB is struggling, can we not have Middlebrooks and Saltalamacchia batting back to back? It's literally torturous to watch. There's a good chance that the # of letters in their combined names exceeds te combined # of pitches they've made contact on. Ugh.

Man, Oakland's lineup... this team was in the playoffs last year? And yet they lead the AL in runs scored. April.

Including that last AB, Middlebrooks with an 0-2 count is 0-for-18 with ten strikeouts. HAS to be a nagging injury.. Yeah, he sprained his pitch recognition.

Man, I really wanted that one for Stephen Drew. Looked like he crushed it off the bat, but it just died out there.

WMB needs those eye drops Big Papi got a couple years ago

I don't think WMB's problems are injury related. He's simply swinging at tons of horrible pitches. His issues at this point seem mental more than physical.
Starting to feel for Stephen Drew. He's hit a couple of balls really well that have gone for outs. I truly believe he's still a solid hitter for a SS, and that he will be a solid contributor this season.
Also is anyone else a little concerned with Pedroia? He's getting on base and all, but he literally has had no XBH power this season. Haven't seen him rip too many balls like he's capable of.

Yeah, he sprained his pitch recognition. I highly doubt he just fell off a cliff sortaspeak... hopefully he gets out of it Walked in 4.5% of his mlb PA last year. Walked in only 5% of his AAA PAs and 5.3% of his AA PAs in 2011. That really does not bode well for his OBP.

And yet they lead the AL in runs scored. April. I know. But they have Cespedes coming back soon and he's a huge part of their lineup presence. Reddick also can only get better. They aren't an elite offense, but they aren't that bad at all if they remain healthy. WMB. Great hitter.

He does have power though. Hopefully, WMB ends up as more than just a huge power, no OBP guy.

Nice Middlebrooks. Way to actually take a couple pitches then deliver.

That's why pitchers don't give WMB anything around that part of the plate

Yeah, 85 up and in isn't going to cut it against Middlebrooks. Still, credit to him for crushing it.

This is what happens when you are ahead in the count- you get more pitches to hit. WMB lately has been behind 0-2 in almost every at-bat, giving the pitcher a huge advantage, having the freedom to throw anything. But when you take a few pitches, like Will did, (he was ahead 2-0) you get more pitches to hit. Hopefully this will be the start of a hot streak for Will.

Yes, that is somewhat concerning. Hopefully there is not an injury. I am also wondering about Ellsbury's lack of walks.

I'd have to go back and check to be totally certain, but I'm pretty sure that Griffen just missed his spot badly. Not that you aren't right about laying off pitches, but no one is throwing that pitch to Middlebrooks intentionally regardless of the count.

Man I'd love to see a GIF of Salty's framing job on that 2-2 pitch to Frieman. That easily painted the inside corner. Just abysmal.

That's why pitchers don't give WMB anything around that part of the plate He would get more of those types of pitches if he stopped swinging at everything. The less he swings at, the better pitches he will see. Hopefully someone is working hard with him on that.

Doubront was cruising through four, but the wheels have just come off here in the fifth.

Shocker. Doubront won't get us 6 innings tonight.
What a fucking joke. Especially after a day we needed him to go deep cause of the DH yesterday. I'm so sick of watching him pitcher.
Morales better get the spot when he gets healthy.

Salty really should be putting his body in front of that admittedly terrible pitch.
