Dean, Broadway, Walter probably the three biggest early SSS disappointments on here, Coffey, Paez, and Miller probably the three nicest surprises.

Definitely not a "thing" yet, but a bit odd that Rafaela hasn't played CF since Wednesday. Last week was CF/CF/DH/off/SS/SS.
Last year and the start of this, he'd get a game at SS every week, occasionally two, and maybe a DH game and/or an off game. Just odd for him to get all of those (2 SS, a DH, and an off day) in a four-game stretch.

More time at SS would be helpful if they needed him up for a late defensive replacement in a game. Doubt he would be but always be prepared.

He seems intriguing. Good start to the season for him Some draft notes on Coffey say that he doesn't throw particularly hard (~89-90mph in limited Trackman sample) but that he throws from a low release point with outlier release coordinates both vertically and horizontally. So he actually kind of throws hard for someone with his release point and the FB itself has lots of horizontal movement. His slider also apparently has a ton of movement as well. Perhaps the craziest thing about his profile is that he can throw strikes reasonably well despite this profile with lots of movement from a funky release. Has anyone seen him throw this year to back any of this up? I can't speak to the movement of his pitches, but I put a few unedited sequences of frames from when I saw Coffey at the Fort up here. Not as good as video, obviously, but if you click through them it gives you a feel for his pitching motion.

Which is not to say he's bad at short. Imagine if JBJ (just using the comp for defensive skill level) were also a 55-60 shortstop. Are you really going to play him much there given what he gave you in center? So yeah, I get it. It's just interesting. It's not like he's exactly beating the door down to Worcester, never mind Boston, right now.

Shortstop is a more skilled position so he would need more time at it. The Sox just are looking bad at shortstop right now. He`s on the 40 and it seems like a good thing to give a player a taste of the big leagues at some point even if he`s not going to stay up for awhile. It seems to be eye opening for some to realize the big jump in quality of play. I look forward to him being in CF. Do you think it`s better for him to just stick to the outfield?

I'd like him to show he can hit AA pitching before we worry about where he'll play in Boston.
