His most recent outing was 5.1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8K, so rust seems like the most likely culprit. He pitched yesterday - 5 BB and 4 K in 5 IP. Ah, didn't realize! That's uglier. Still not too worried given the time he's missed. Just look at Sale's start.

Paxton certainly doesn't look like an upgrade to any of the guys in the rotation at this point. Particularly with Crawford dinged up, doesn't longman seem like the right role for now? See if has anything to offer.

The Rays this year are exactly why a Wild Card team is necessary. I'll never see the justification for 2 more though. Isnt the AL east this year justification for it? Or for getting rid of divisions as playoff determiners. It’s possible the 5 best teams in the AL are the 5 East teams. That might actually be fair, though I'm skeptical of the record of the 3rd WC team will be considered deserving of a spot.

There's always somebody online talking $h!t. Social media is the back fence rumor generator of global communications, just as Amazon is the global emporium, EBay the global flea market, and so on.

“Chronic” back issues? Did they even do a physical on this guy? It’s certainly not what they want to see in year 1 of a 6yr/$160m deal. The team initially said he’d be back in April….now it’s looking like August/September??? Maybe???

Hasn't been remotely effective in the bigs since 2019. He's 34. I give him credit for "rust", but his stint at the Woo has been less than stellar. Even when he was good, he never pitched more than 160 innings, so his durability is more than questionable. Is there upside? Sure. Like I said, I hope he is excellent - it just seems like a lot to hope for.

I’m repeating myself here: Rehab starts = Spring training stats = meaningless The reported readings on his velocity are excellent and those are the only numbers we should be paying attention too.

Duvall to the 60 to make room for Littell. Makes sense as even in the best scenario Duvall would probably take 60 days to return, and once he does one of Garza/Littell/Brasier/Tapia should be an easy DFA.

Refsnyder DH Verdugo 9 Turner 3 Devers 5 Hernandez 6 Duran 8 Arroyo 4 Tapia 7 McGuire 2 Reese in the lineup vs a Lefty. Wong did take a couple shots off the mask yesterday so maybe they are being cautious

Never been a huge Harper fan, but I am a huge Yoshida fan and you have to give respect to Harper for being so cool to Yoshi. It's all about mutual respect and an obvious love for the game.... Very nice

I’m apprehensive about this experiment. Something that did occur to me as you highlighted the walk numbers in AAA, was the discussion about how awful of a receiver Alfaro is, from this week’s podcast while discussing Mata. Chris said it’s to the point where he’s making a note of who is catching for each starting pitcher appearance in AAA this year. I haven’t seen the starts and don’t know who was catching each one; maybe he’s pitched to more of a fair to poor walk rate than an awful walk rate, but he’s lost pitches and at bats due to the catching situation.

Idk what we did to tweak his approach but it seems like he is purposely letting the ball get deep and is using his quick hands.

It`s tough rooting for TB, but I`m doing it. It’s never tough rooting against the MFY, the only time I rooted for them was the last series of 2011…I learned my lesson lol
