Don’t tell me we gonna hear how he had a deal lower down the board and the Red Sox took him anyways. One of the reasons I’m a little surprised the Sox ended up taking Teel was because I assume when guys like that fall, teams may be unfamiliar with the guy or his demands. Wonder if there was an under slot guy that got left on the dance floor with that fall having happened You don't think the Sox would do their homework on this kind of stuff?

I think there are scenarios in which they’d have the player scouted but maybe didn’t delve into what it’d take to sign him based on his draft range. Like do you think they ever seriously thought about Paul Skenes or Dylan Crews? Teel isn’t that level, obviously, but there reaches a point in which you consider a guy out of reach and don’t commit the resources. Luckily UVA gets heavily scouted anyway. I know there are other sports where this has happened (in this past NBA draft, it reportedly happened to Cam Whitmore). Anyway was just throwing out a hypothetical, obviously they had an idea he’d be around.

Eric A Longenhagen 9:15 Have a mix of George Lombard and Thomas White to NYY right now, stronger signal for Lombard
Fun 2 possibilities for the Yankees sadly

More likely in MLB, because in the NBA picks get traded all the time, so you need to be familiar at least with the full range of prospects. Plus there's only 75 or so guys who are going to get drafted.

Out of the first 26 Selections.. All of them are within the Baseball America Top 34. There are really no "sliders" and no teams cutting major underslot deals.
I think that speaks a lot to the depth of this draft and how good the players available are when teams are picking and should also mean the players available to the Red Sox should be quite predictable and should be able to sign for near slot or slightly over, unless they are deadset on college.

Peete, White or McGonigle at 50 would be really exciting but a lot of fun names left.

Astros going with Brice Matthews, he's one of the college bats I would have loved at 50. Data darling.

If the Red Sox want to go College Bat/Signable at #50 there are going to be a lot of very good players still left. Gelof, Hurley, Alderman, Honeyman, Groover, etc. Regardless, should get a very good prospect at 50.

If I'm being completely honest I'm not really enjoying the draft where the Red Sox pick the guy that every person in the world thought was the right pick
I need some drama

Tai Peete was never getting down the board to #50. Going to Seattle with the next pick along with Johnny Farmelo.

So Seattle got pick 29 because Julio won ROY and was on opening day roster? Surely the Sox can stumble into one of those with current upper minors crop, right? That seems real nice
