I wonder if it was a coincidence that Bloom missed the last three innings in Portland and returned right after the Fujinami trade leaked

Sogard is quietly having a very nice season. Not sure if tweets still embed for everyone but his turn on this WooSox triple play tonight is something else. Link here if you need to click through.

Man, Rafaela quietly tearing it up for Worcester. Curious to know what his exit velo is looking like. Already know his chase rate is somewhere around 40%.

Not sure about exit velo but I'd really like to see him bring up that 1.5% walk rate. That would be less than half the rate of any qualified player in MLB. He's usually above 5% so I assume he gets there.

For those that prefer .203/.655 to .294/.916, I know of a bridge in New York for sale.

I am presuming that, barring a collapse in the next month and a half, Rafaela will be brought up in September, as a pinch-runner/late inning defensive replacement if nothing else. He is such an interesting case. His lack of plate discipline continues to be a problem, yet he continues to produce offensively well enough that he is far far from a liability on that side of his game. I guess most here are assuming that his offense will collapse at the major league level because of that lack of discipline, but he seems to be maintaining himself well at AAA so far. If he keeps going at somewhere near what he is doing now, at some point don't we just have to gulp and give him some kind of shot in the majors? His defense would be an instant improvement right now, so that isn't holding him back. Thing is, CF isn't his spot to get a shot right now because of the domino effects on the roster/lineup. But at SS, now that's another story. He could handle short, Story could return and play 2B, and the infield instantly sorts itself out, with less strain on Story's arm.

If they had any intention of doing that they wouldn’t have been so adamant in saying Story will be SS upon returning IMO.

He's got 6 homers and 1 walk in the last month so it's certainly the rarer commodity.

Remember, there are only 2 more roster spots in September now. One will be a RP. I don't think it's even close to a safe assumption Rafaela gets the other.
If you want a runner the clear choice is Hamilton. I hear the defense thing but he only OF they'd probably do that with is Yoshida, who'd be in LF.
