Martin is an object lesson to pitchers. Everything he throws is good but not necessarily elite… but just goes after guys. Guys with better stuff should be taking notes.
Come to think of it: player/coach. Do it.

Martin is my favorite reliever since Koji

I do not understand this need, even in the middle of a good performance, to mock the various hometown players. I doubt I ever will. C’mon. I’ve been Mr. Positive. But Story chafes my hide. I can not imagine why. He plays hard, is an excellent defensive player, runs the bases well. He hits with power. He seems to be a good teammate. I wish I was as good at anything as Trevor Story is at baseball. At present he is not hitting well. For that he should be mocked at every turn? Again, I do not understand mocking the team one roots for. Even when the team is winning. I just don't get it.

Aside from pitching, second base needs to be a top priority for 2024; pretty sure Urias is not the answer.

May be minor, but why warm Kenley at this point? He labored yesterday. Just let him sit.

Where will Casas end up? 30-70? 30-80? What a second half.

can’t wait until we have an actual high leverage moment tomorrow and all our best relievers are tired

I like Kenley, and he’s been pretty great. But I do worry year 2 of the contract has a huge risk of an injury-marred season. Not complaining about the contract… just nervous that big body pops.

The story of this game is Bello’s adjustments after the 1st to give his team a chance to come back. That and Casas continuing to show he is elite. But let’s nit dwell on the past. Let’s rest up and get em again tomorrow.

Harold Ramirez has 9 home runs and 53 RBIs.
Triston Casas has 23 home runs and 59 RBIs.
Not sure what to make of that.
Feels like Casas should have more production given the number of home runs.

The Rangers position player just did a better job than all of their relievers.

can’t wait until we have an actual high leverage moment tomorrow and all our best relievers are tired IDK, bottom of the 9th on the road, lead is only four and the Rays 3,4,5 hitters coming up, I think that is high enough leverage for Jansen. Make sure we win today !

The A's had it tied going into the bottom of the 9th, blew a scoring opportunity, and now the Jays have run away in extra innings.

I’d say he is relatively productive. RBIs is more of a product of position in the lineup. He’s spent a lot of season hitting 6th and 7th.

He has been really poor, relatively, in high leverage/clutch situations. Probably just noise, not concerned about it with him long term, but it’s fair to point out that his actual offense impact on winning games has been less than his wRC+ would indicate.

I can only imagine those crapping on him have the first half of the season blacked out from memory due to trauma Let’s be real though, he never had a chance with some. They were bashing him 5 games in when he wasn’t hitting after not having an off-season, a ramp up period, a spring, or a first 3 months of the season. They think anybody can get thrown into a wild card race against elite pitching in the august and start hitting. It’s bananaland to put it mildly. A lot of those same people were mad he said he wasn’t ready at the plate down in Worcester during his rehab too iirc. Can’t win with them unless you’re a plus bat, plus glove, and plus baserunner apparently. Even if he replaced the personification of anti-clutch. People who begin their year in the middle of the season usually struggle- we’ve seen it with former Sox guys like Kimbrel and Drew. Yeah…toss recovering from a major elbow procedure on top of that. For me- give me the glove and the baserunning, I can wait until the bat comes back around. Something tells me he’s not the .500 OPS guy some people apparently think he is now . It’s still better than what we’ve trotted out all year.
