I acknowledge all that in my original post, but good quarterbacks really ought to be able to elevate the players around them, and I don't see a whole lot of that from Mac. It's not a big problem if he's a league-average quarterback (can't really expect much more from him than that), but he is increasingly looking like just a league-average quarterback. So he has no time to throw, nobody that can get open to throw to, he's playing on a different offense for the THIRD TIME in a row to start his career, and yet he's supposed to elevate people like Pop Douglas? You can't tell me Mac is worse than Sam Howell, Desmond Ridder or Brock Purdy, guys who are around his age. Those guys run good offenses because they actually have weapons and don't have to play with the (kind of) worst OL in the league. I think Mac is a good QB. He's not an elite QB, but he's well within the good range. He's not the problem.

I'm actually impressed with Mac Jones, he's going to need some time to fully get a new offense and with that OL, with no Running game. I don't think the weapons are a big issue. Pulling Douglas after a fumble was stupid. It's like people forget, some of Bradys worst games were when he was attacked like that! At this point in his career they were a run heavy team. Brady perfect 2007 on line in superbowl versus that Giants DL, our OL makes most teams look like that teams DL. I genuinely think he’s been good so far. The two picks both involve the receiver sharing blame. First ball could have been caught even if it wasn’t a great pass. Second ball his mistake was committing before the snap he was taking the chance 1 on 1, I like the idea but you have to make sure the WR doesn’t get bodied off the snap and unfortunately Parker got absolutely dominated. So while he does deserve some blame for that Parker deserves the majority of it, just a totally uncompetitive play from him First one a little high but could have been caught. The 2nd one was on him and likely him getting comfortable with offense. You need that ball to be over the head, giving Parker a chance to go up and get it. Or use a Thornton type guy and see if he can run it down. I would have tried Reagor for a few plays doing that. It would be nice to see what he could do with time to throw. One issue, he's way too locked on Bourne, it's like he moved from Meyers to Bourne. So many deep shots to him.

According to ESPN, Boston is the only city with racist jerks for fans. To be fair to Hill here, he didn't say he was getting racist insults. I like my city to be hostile within reason against the other team. Hopefully they were asking about that time he beat the living sh*t out of his pregnant girlfriend.

Be nice to have a guy like Pierre Strong instead of the ghost of Zeke Elliott. He has two (2) carries for one (1) yard and is a better fit for a zone blocking running scheme Zeke’s been running fine. The offensive line can’t block.

The offensive line can’t block. A bit facetious, but I liked his potential when they moved on. I don't know if Zeke is running all that fine, but who knows with this OL. I'm sure they could make Barry Sanders look mediocre so, while I'm not high on what Zeke has to offer in the run game. I do accept that it could be contributed to the atrocious OL.

Boston has always been a racist town. The problem is that half the city is either Irish or Italian. No black was even allowed into a Bruins game. They were allowed to see the Celtics. The Red Sox maybe a little. That’s our history like it or not.

I liked Strong also, he was raw, needed work in passing game and lacked good vision, which is horrible for a RB. He was crazy fast and explosive though. For him we got Wheatley OG/OT known for his run blocking. Given the pass blocking we are seeing, I want to see him play, team up with Onwenu. If pass blocking is going to be crap, let's improve the run blocking that's been horrible.
They really need to consider moving Onwenu to RT.
This was the problem with our OL picks, top two small school, need time to adjust and Sow played OT all training camp. Mifi was a DT convert, still learning OG. These young players needed time, 2nd half of season or next year type guys.
I with the guys on Twitter, still can't believe they pulled Douglas from offense, then had him returning punts. He's the perfect fit for our offense and adds quickness and explosive play potential.
Zeke was a great signing, you just can't see it because the OL is horrible.

They're not running the ball effectively and the entire line is collapsing around Mac his pass blocking isn't going to matter much. Like when Marcus Smart was on the floor with a bunch of guys who played no defense. They'll just go around him. But right the running game is nonexistent and Mac has had to throw more than anyone else in football thus far and I don't think that's by design. Zeke helps in that capacity, but Mac is going to get killed by week 4 at this rate.

I think a lot of the skill position players are better than they're being given credit for - not great but a lot of solid potential. Henry and Bourne look improved and good overall and many of the rest are new this year in what seems more like a traditional Pats offense, which usually took a little while to click with new players and for everyone to get on the same page. They're going to be frustrating though - the rookies will make mistakes, (already seeing it with Douglas' fumble and Boutte twice unable to keep his feet inbounds last week) and Parker will be injured, and Stevenson will continue to be ineffective in short yardage situations, etc. It's more that they have very little margin for error, and so far they have shot themselves in the foot with dumb mistakes to go along with OL play that, at least this past week, was nothing but errors.
If they can somehow get the OL playing better there's reason for optimism; if this past week was a sign of things to come, then yeah its going to be a brutal year.

Man I remember Sergio when he was here. This story is going to take a VERY dark turn I'm afraid. Yikes. This whole story is so crazy and sad. This is why I think football will die before any other sport. Interest in baseball may be going down faster than the other 3, but my wife doesn't want our potential future children to play football. I personally would brush it aside, but seeing guys like Aaron Hernandez, Junior Seau, and now Sergio Brown. I'm beginning to agree. Maybe Brown is dealing with other mental issues, but even the fact that's my first immediate thought is enough. Note, I'm not putting Seau with the other two. I'm saying the man felt the need to kill himself because he had crippling depression because he felt like he had CTE and wanted people to examine his brain. He was right.

Patriots adding new incentives to Trent Browns contract. Hopefully motivates the big man.

That’s just awful in regards to Sergio Brown. So many former players with brain damage having these crazy, erratic episodes. Phillip Adams is another Pats DB from around the same time that had a similar episode where he murdered for no apparent reason.
Edit: assuming Sergio killed his mom that would make 3 murderers on the 2011 team (Hernandez, Adams, and now presumably Brown)

Now Matt Corral is NOT joining the PS, per Kyed (who had first reported the apparent signing). So weird.

So they think paying Brown more will make him better? Which just means they think he's not motivated and not trying as hard as he should. Why I wanted him gone.
I liked Smith coming out, mauler in run game, needed improvement on pass protection. Our current OL is just getting pushed around way too much. Give me some nasty mauler types.

Maybe he doesn't need to be incentivized to play better. Maybe he needs to be incentivized to play it all. Since he's a free agent at the end of the year he might not want to play for his current salary and risk injury and damaging his potential upcoming paycheck. Maybe...
