Well they ARE incentives so they'll only be paying him IF he's better (and active). As someone tweeted yesterday, maybe this can be a case of "we'll do well by your guy if you get Uche done" (same agent). Likely no but one can hope.

So they think paying Brown more will make him better? Which just means they think he's not motivated and not trying as hard as he should. Why I wanted him gone. Maybe he doesn't need to be incentivized to play better. Maybe he needs to be incentivized to play it all. Since he's a free agent at the end of the year he might not want to play for his current salary and risk injury and damaging his potential upcoming paycheck. Maybe... His current contract gives him the chance to make about $11 million, now about $13 million. That's the best deal he could get coming off a much better year than he's had in 2022 or 2023 so far. No play, no incentives and his next free agent contract will be peanuts, probably Reiff type deal. Yeah I don't see it.

If winning and the fact that he's a pending free agent isn't motivation enough then I don't really want him on the roster. I'm not speculating that's why he got this, but if that's the case then that's annoying. He'll get on the field and play harder for a couple extra million, but then probably lose twice that (or more) on his next deal coming off a bad year? If anything, this is probably making up for lying to him (as told by him).

Disturbing stuff going on in Chicago.
Word is, this investigation involves children.
Supposedly, Halas Hall home was also raided by the FBI today; however, I just saw Tweet a couple of minutes ago refuting that.

Not sure I agree with that assessment on Mac. His receivers are mega sh*t, the OL is a joke and he's in the third OC in 3 years. And he still looks decent. Any QB would struggle under that much pressure and who on this roster can get chunk yardage? His career has been mismanaged to hell. I acknowledge all that in my original post, but good quarterbacks really ought to be able to elevate the players around them, and I don't see a whole lot of that from Mac. It's not a big problem if he's a league-average quarterback (can't really expect much more from him than that), but he is increasingly looking like just a league-average quarterback. I don’t disagree with this but name me one great QB who’s had an offense that looks great without at least one great weapon?

A couple notes:
1. Cole Strange STINKS; he’s playing like the developmental 3rd round pick he should have been not a first rounder (shocking). Last years class that seemed so good, is kind of Meh at this point.
2. Autopsy was released and the fan didn’t die if any traumatic injuries. Saying he got murdered is a lot much. No charges have been filed. No one deserves to die, but this is why you shouldn’t get into altercations in general let alone at sporting events. I highly doubt he was just an innocent guy watching the game not par-taking in the situation.

Patriots through first two games have a pass blocking win rate of 37%, 2nd worst in league. Chiefs are #1 at 78%, Jets last at 33%.
I'd assume the run blocking rate is about the same.
Mac Jones under those conditions has been brilliant. Imagine him with even a halfway decent OL and running game.
BTW Douglas looks like the most physically gifted slot WR we've ever had. We have to wait to see what he becomes, but wow is he electric.

He’s just on another level than the others in terms of electricity. He’s also one of the only guys who can get open quickly, which we all know is super necessary with this offensive line being what it is so far

That kind of thinking is so antiquated. Zolak mentioned this kid got there at 9am because he was so excited for game day. I wonder how this impacts his enthusiasm? I'm willing to bet he does play and looks somewhat underwhelming and not creating plays after the catch because Bill has spooked him and that he doesn't want to get buried on the bench. Maybe play your rookies in the pre-season?

Was anyone else impressed with how our defense played against a fairly powerful offense while being down multiple DBs? White Barmore n Judon are all nasty and boy has Bentley looked like a more mature, stronger player. Might get scorched for this maybe I’m probably missing some things but if there’s anything to try n stay stoked about it’s been the defense.
The OL and WR positions have become Bill’s biggest curse (along with the dolphins in general lately)
I don’t want to panic because regardless of shit stats n whatnot, we haven’t been blown out and have only played really good teams.

Patriots must really hate Zappe or this is some major new approach. I can't remember them ever adding two new QBs to active roster before week 3. If they felt that way, why promote him? You release him now almost guaranteed Bengals will claim him. You haven't been using the players you promote.
This is where OL is killing us again, having to carry so many left fewer options at other spots and guys like Boden to season ending IR. He was playing some first team defensive reps and was a great return option.
I don't understand why Wade is on this team, both Bryant and Wade got picked on like crazy against the Dolphins. Nevermind I hated the early game plan. You get a guy like Gonzalez to play one on one, not some zone type D. They were much better in 2nd half playing their style of D.

He's likely gone by pick 13, even if we get a pick that high. QBs, WR and elite day one starting OT rise on draft day. Bill needs to likely trade up and he should do just that.

I think we are going to be picking higher than 13. I would love to get Alt or Marvin Harrison. But Harrison is very likely gone before pick 4. So Im all in on Alt.

I know this is unlikely, but there's a non-zero chance that Harrison end up as the first overall pick. He's just ridiculous and you never know what could happen to Caleb Williams.

I feel very safe in saying it has nothing to do with having a clear #1 QB. Mac Jones has impressed me and you don't find QB ones on waiver wire and practice squads. More like Bill is worried his crap OL is going to injure his QBs and needs a full stable and when you think about it, that makes perfect sense

Have you watched some of the other teams on our schedule? You never know given this OL and injuries, all 3 Jones at CB out by week two isn't something I thought would happen. I watched Zach Wilson last week and it certainly made me feel better, same watching Daniel Jones. We'll see, still top 3 OTs went off the board in top 11 picks last draft. Tonight will be a good test for Alt and Notre Dame. We've bullied some bad to good teams, now we face a truly elite talent wise team.

I've had a pretty bad sports weekend and I'm not just talking about the weather which is going to continue with the rain. It can all be made better if Pats get a little pass blocking, a little run blocking and don't commit any major turnovers. That likely will get the job done.

I truly hate being a Notre Dame fan, like OMG last two plays they only have ten players on field. It's like they wanted to not win.
Spent some more time trying to focus on Joe Alt, not the easiest thing to do. Pass blocking was good, he's mobile in run game. What stood out was so many double teams on runs, with him and the guard, plus him going 2nd level repeatedly. Looked like much more of a zone blocking scheme, than the power schemes of a lot of past Notre Dame teams. More of what Matt Patricia ran, then what we are currently doing. That being said, a guy like Strange would likely be better in a scheme like that.
Now it's only one game and Notre Dame had its best corner on him all game, they don't have two great CBs. It's just Egbuka looked a lot better than Harrison. Ohio States QB didn't look good, he just has two stud WRs, an NFL TE and RB. It's just kinda crazy the amount of first round picks at WR teams like Ohio State and Bama get almost every year it seems. Notre Dame top ten in recruiting year after year, we can't get one every ten years.
