Right down the middle...the sin wasn't swinging at it, it was chopping it right to the second baseman. You look at where it was and you wonder how he didn't line it or lift it.

I love Dugie, but…
First-pitch swinging when Holmes can’t find the plate?
Very bush.

Um, I'm taking Verdugo swinging on a middle middle pitch vs Verdugo down 0-1 every time, are you guys crazy? Even THAT time? Maybe 99/100 times?

The pitch was a strike I mean you have to not hit a ground ball there but swinging was the right decision The annoying ones are where a pitcher has lost the zone and then the batter swings at the first pitch when its borderline and they can't really make good contact on it. But a pitcher who's lost the zone so he throws a meatball to compensate - that's where you do damage. I mean, someone needs to get a hit eventually... And that's the kind of pitch Verdugo swung at. Unfortunately he just made the worst possible kind of contact.

I have no problem swinging at a pitch right down Broadway when a guy is wild. That’s the other side of the coin, if he’s wild then he might groove one, and he did! Just didn’t hit it well.
Also, as much as I respect them both as players, Papelbon and JimEd is a really dire pairing on the postgame show. Must’ve been the same genius that fired Don who decided to put them on together.

"Red Sox Wrap: Boston Rookies Set Table In Disappointing End Boston's domination over New York continued Tuesday" And Dewey defeated Truman, lol. I'm still pissed at NESN for not making a 2018 season documentary, something that covered the entire season in depth and captured all those great moments. They were too cheap to do so. NESN is terrible.

Yankees win tonight and there's a tie for last place The Sox are basically at full strength, too. Just about all their key guys are in there/available. Meanwhile, the Yankees threw in the towel weeks ago and they are making up ground. What an awful season. I hope John Henry is as disgusted by this product as most of the fans are.

Abreu is my starting RFer in 2024. I’m fine with Verdugo swinging at that pitch, the problem is that, as we all know, he’s a groundball machine. But I’m still pissed at his at bat vs Kahnle earlier, Abreu would never give you something like that.

There’s one thing you can’t let happen in that situation, and that’s a Double Play. Especially with Devers on deck.
If you are going to help out a pitcher by swinging early it better be a ball you can lift

Reyes playing game 2. Who is heading to Woo? What are folks’s view on this? I guess if it is tome to play the kids, I might rather see Valdez than Reyes? Probably irrelevant.

He just didn’t hit it well.

Helping a pitcher out is not even attempting to punish mistakes when they throw them

I have to say, feels like there are stakes to the rest of this series. It would be pretty depressing for the Yankees to have their most wretched season in living memory and for the Red Sox to still finish behind them.

Yankees win tonight and there's a tie for last place This was my worry during the last series. We do NOT need the halpless, can't-do-anything-right MFYs jetting out of Fenway knowing they jumped the Sox in the standings. Period.

I want Abreu to play right and see how he handles the space in Fenway. Would like to see Rafaela play center and see how he compares to the hype.

My first thought is that Devers should play every possible game against the Yankees. He should be the DH in game 2 if you want to rest him a bit. As for Valdez v. Reyes, they are both kind of competing for a gig next year, so I can understand giving them both a look.

Numbers game in re: Valdez, they needed the spot and aren’t going to DFA Reyes or Urias

Jeez, we got some sad people around here. It's like the time someone asked John Kerry, "What's with the long face?"

Didn't even know there was a double header today. I am not gonna get too worked up over whether we finish ahead or behind the MFY's. Or even if we finish last place. What is done is done and time to focus on other things. This team has driven all of us mad for about 5 and half months, time to take back daily ownership of my emotions.
