replay is so useless sometimes
rather than the standard of "clear and conclusive" just judge the play on a blank slate and determine if it's more likely he was safe or out

Either way that is another 100+ MPH line drive for Romy Gonzalez

That was just bad base running. Even if he avoided the tag, that was a stupid play to try for second. They call it "scoring position" for a reason. I liked the risk. He was hustling from the jump -- I liked that too.

Either way that is another 100+ MPH line drive for Romy Gonzalez and he rarely gets to play

replay is so useless sometimes rather than the standard of "clear and conclusive" just judge the play on a blank slate and determine if it's more likely he was safe or out I don't hate that standard if it's going to be consistently applied, but it isn't. And at that point, you might as well just choose a "reasonable doubt" sort of standard.

I don’t even think Smith’s replacement needs to be Kavadas. Valdez would work. Cooper and Gonzalez can play 1B every day

He was hustling from the jump -- I liked that too. Where that ball was hit it was 100% chance the ball would beat him to second, absent a rare throwing error (that is an easy throw for an outfielder). If the ball is at second when you are not get in your dive, as here, there is an extremely high likelihood you will be called out. He’d be better off at first and trying to steal, etc. it was bad base running. I am fine with aggressive base running, but that was foolish.

He's fighting to stay in the big leagues and he doesn't have many opportunities to prove himself.

Just watch Refsnyder's throw -- wasn't close. But neither one of us will change our opinion on the play, and that's fine. Then again, I merely offered whether I liked it or not; not whether it was correct or not. I don't know how I'd do that from my couch.

Rob has a terrible terrible arm. Really shouldn’t be in right field.

Rob has a terrible terrible arm. Really shouldn’t be in right field. That is the trade off when Ref pinch hits for Abreu. The double was huge, but the drop off on defense bit us this time.
