Tillman made two threes... also Queta attempted a three apparently?

Tillman made two threes... also Queta attempted a three apparently? End of the shot clock heave, but it was actually pretty close!

The scary thing with OKC is that they have the right to swap picks with the Clippers this year and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that was a high lotto pick with whatever is going on with Kawhi. This coming draft is supposed to be very good from what I've seen or they could use it as trade bait for a superstar now. Pretty sure they get their pick outright this year and swap is next. Unprotected they had the Clippers 2024 pick and get their 2026 pick outright. 2025 is a swap. www.nba.com/news/clippers-thunder-paul-george-shai-gilgeous-alexander-trade-review

Our third unit needs some work. 😅 I had them -19.5 I was SCREAMING at them I mean I joke about it, but it is good they are getting work. I’d like to see Joe work someone like Walsh in with the regulars. I think he will, and I think it will be better for him to play off them in a more well oiled structure than with the literal 10-15 guys on the roster. I couldn’t help but watch that group and think about how Lonnie Walker would have carved up that 4th and we would have won by 40.

Early last season the bench was a work in progress but they jelled nicely. I think the same thing will happen this year. Queta and Tillman are already clicking.

Especially in the early season, their roster continuity (which extends through the end of the bench) will be a big asset.

Our big men rotation gave us 24 points and 12 rebounds and that’s without The Porzingod AND not counting Al. Unikorn, Queta and Tillman are probably bad matchups come playoff time, but for the regular season they are going to feast.

The funny thing is I’m not truly talking about our “bench”, which in context usually means the second unit. We are now talking about the 3rd unit… which is absurd but hey, why not?

I was talking to a friend opening night and said Golden State was a team to watch this year, making another run with Curry because Hield was going to be a beast on that team. He’s way better than Thompson for that role and he’s just going to feast on open 3s. So far thru 2 games I couldn’t be more right

JB is playing so unselfishly. It’s wild that Detroit is playing their tail off to keep it within 20 and then Jrue freaking Holiday checks in.

I've been watching the Bruins game so I haven't been paying attention to the Celtics, how the heck is this game nearly tied?

Live by the three...die by the three. Celts were hot early...We are vulnerable inside ..not good defense down low and little ability to score consistently in the paint. We were up 23 against a reputedly bad Piston team and now tied with 2:50 to go.

Derrick White and Jrue Holiday have some of the best crunch time defensive rotations. It’s such a joy after years of bed wetting to have those two as defensive closers.

not every game will be a blow out. Detroit gave what they had tonight, probably will be one of their better games played this year. Cs will get the best from lots of teams because they're the champs. They pulled it out and got some crunch time minutes in, so all is good.

Key will be keeping focus in the regular season. For the Cs, it will be all about the playoffs and getting the repeat. Games like this will not be surprising, and will be beneficial in the long run.
Great win!

Also, it’s amazing how Detroit always seem to give us a hard time. Glad they won’t sniff the playoffs lol.

What I take from last nights game is my confidence never wavered and more importantly neither did theirs. In previous seasons, losing that lead would have lead to me being pissed and expecting them to lose. Last night it was more like, “oh good for Detroit being a young scrappy team this year, but we are closers so they’ll come up short”.
What a difference a year makes

Last night it was more like, “oh good for Detroit being a young scrappy team this year, but we are closers so they’ll come up short”. What a difference a year makes Yup, there is now the comforting feeling that the Celts can right the ship in crunch time against many teams. Bird's teams projected the same aura as did those in the 60's heyday. Championship teams do. Still game to game we need better D in the paint and offensive options there. It's one game early in the season I know so one can't take too much from it. In this game were outscored 56-28 in the paint, substantially on the break and out rebounded. Had we not shot 46% from 3 (not sustainable long term), we could have dropped this one and then, as others have said, the media would talk. Having said all that, I think Queta playing more would help balance both sides of the ball.
