Denney 2-3 with a walk. Now at .364 5 for 14 with 6 walks and 4 ks Interesting, box had him at 1-3 an hour ago, which made his average something like .273 Not sure if it was a mistake or change of heart by the official scorer In other news: Alixon Suarez 3-4, 2B, 2 RBI Raymel Flores 2-3, 2 2B, 2RBI Well, 5/14 isn't .364, and 4/14 isn't .273, sooo....

According to FanGraphs he was 2 for 8 before today; 2-3 would make him 4-11, which is .364, and 1-3 would make him 3-11, which is .273. No idea where the other numbers came from though.

I don't like when Cecchini doesn't play. They should've put him in AAA for the AA ASB

Gotten so blase about Xander that we don't even note his homers anymore? He left a guy in scoring position with 2 out sand hasn't waked. Who cares about him - can't even crack the top 3 prospects in baseball.

Gotten so blase about Xander that we don't even note his homers anymore? He's trying to get Cherrington's attention that the team doesn't need a "fix", or any old vet, like Mike Young and Iglesias, or himself can take over the remainder of the year.

Looks like Charlie Haeger will get the bump to Pawtucket for tonight's start. Likely just a spot start with Portland on its ASB. Would be funny, though, if he stayed up and Pawtucket had two knuckleballers in its rotation... Poor Dan Butler... I wonder if Butler feels that way. If he can deal with the knucklers, that COULD be an additional avenue to the majors at some point. He doesn't project to be anything more than a backup catcher, and ability to handle the knuckler could be a ticket to a specific team's roster ......

Witte to Lowell, Johnson to rehab in GCL. If I read the box scores correctly, Witte played the first game of the GCL doubleheader, then the Spinners game at night. Amazing.

In case you're not kidding, the first game was the resumption of a suspended game. He was replaced when the game started. FWIW, you wouldn't be allowed to play at two levels in one day, I don't think.

Thanks for that clarification. I guess it would be possible, though, as many GCL games are in the morning.

Thanks for that clarification. I guess it would be possible, though, as many GCL games are in the morning. Only because you've piqued my interest: There's no way you'd be able to travel from Fort Myers to any Sox affiliate game in time after playing in a noon game. Southernmost SAL team is in Savannah, so driving obviously wouldn't work. Even if you had someone rehab for a couple innings of a noon game, no flights would get you to any Sally city in time. Resources below in case anyone wants to check my math. SAL Map: www.oursportscentral.com/services/ataglance/?l_id=50CarL Map: www.oursportscentral.com/services/maps/largemap.php?l_id=37Ft. Myers direct flights: www.flylcpa.com/nonstop/

It's only 30 minutes outside of Charlotte, which is less than a two-hour flight from Fort Myers. Looks like they have a 3:00pm flight, which means playing an entire game would be tough, but they could probably take someone out in the fourth, head directly to the airport, and get him to the Kannapolis ballpark by 6:30, even giving time for getting off the plane and Charlotte traffic. There is no reason why anyone would ever do that.

There is no reason why anyone would ever do that. Maybe if they traded for a catcher to catch a knuckleballer?
