You see a homer that goes a couple blocks past the left field wall and you think, 440 feet? 450? But no, 363. The only ballpark dumber than Yankee Stadium.

Should we be reading into the order of how Speier listed the names (as well as cited Breslow specifically in his tweet?)?

being a stop spender means nothing if its not being used wisely... See NYM... or SD.. Agree completely, but every chief exec believes s/he can make better use of all that money than the last guy (and prob all the other guys in the room). And, ostensibly, you’re the one who gets to make those allocation decisions. It’s not like the new candidate will be coming in with a ton of bad, sunk cost $300M contracts on the books. But I always thought that was a big part of the job’s allure - operating in the highest stratosphere of budget and getting to use all that money to show how your team-construction abilities are in the same stratosphere. Correct, but what I am disagreeing with is the "they’re no longer a top 3 or 4 spending" They usually will spend up to the LUX tax and sometimes go above it.. Very few teams will constantly go way over said Lux tax

I wonder if the Red Sox are regretting letting Chaim go at this point? I think they really believed they could have their pick of the field, but the number of rejections at this point is staggering. That, alone, has to be viewed as a major hit on Henry and Co. and their ego. Agree. Although what’s the allure of working for the Sox for an outside candidate if the org wants to stay below or maybe just periodically peak over the lux tax threshold? If they’re no longer a top 3 or 4 spending team is the draw just as great as it was 10 years ago, even with the improved farm? being a stop spender means nothing if its not being used wisely... See NYM... or SD..

Seems odd that there was no follow up tonight from Boston media on the Breslow report from Chicago. Not sure what to make of that No denial from the Bos press is usually a good thing. They would love nothing more than to say its false or not interested. (See Click)

Should say president. It’s for the big role per reports. Only report I see is from the Cubs writer, which I think is ambiguous about this. Not that ambiguous IMO. the GM is not the #1 role. The PBO is.

I'm not for stat guys with little knowledge of talent judgment or nuance of the game running things, but this Sig guys sounds different, and it sounds like Cora pays close attention to and respects what he has to say. While I dont think he'll wind up with the PoBO job, I certainly wouldnt mind if he did. He could be great. I dont think it's a coincidence that wherever he goes turnarounds happen and the winning starts. I hope the Sox find a way to get him into the organization one way or another. Meanwhile its sounding like Craig Breslow could be returning home although I'm not sure in what capacity. And that sounds like a good thing, too. Maybe Romero winds up PoBO, Sig takes BOH's spot and Breslow takes Romero's spot? Says top spot. So craig would he taking Blooms old role.

Just as the Boston Red Sox will have to determine whether Breslow is the right fit, Breslow must be making his own calculations about the pluses and minuses of working at Fenway Park. Breslow has been in advanced discussions with the Red Sox, according to sources familiar with the search process, interviewing for their No. 1 job in baseball operations.” theathletic.com/4975553/2023/10/18/red-sox-cubs-craig-breslow/

Boy those families sure don't like the RedSox!!! Kidding aside "family considerations" is ramping up to be the new "i just don't want to". I mean, sure some candidates will have legitimate family related reasons, but at this point it looks like EVERYONE is pulling this move now. Looks like 80% of the rejections are "family related". Sam Kennedy: "On a scale of 1-10, how much do you love your family?" Candidate X: "Uh... 10?" Sam Kennedy: "Sir, if you’re not up for the challenge, thanks but no thanks.” I mean for some it does make sense... If you have young kids and live in CA, its going to be a PIA to move your family across the country... since unlike Athletes you will be living in MA full time

Two things 1. How the heck did this team beat the dodgers? 2. When we make the Alcs next I hope we can play a weak team like this Because outside of 2020 the dodgers have been choke artists in the playoffs
