Mason McRae's Write Up on him #557 - Missed a lot of bats this spring, his breakers were the main reason for that as he had feel for them, even if they weren't the best shapes. His slider is generic, but at 81-84 it's solid in college. His curve is a slurve at 76-79 with drop and 9" of sweep. He can't throw the change for strikes so even if it's shape is good the pitch is not. His four-seam has run and some ride, up to 94 with it, sitting in the low-90s with it, average pitch. He spent time starting games but didn't throw a lot, wasn't throwing a ton of strikes, stuff is average. Needs to throw harder.

If they do take HS guys my eyes or on Eric Snow and Henry Godbout, given the pre-draft connections. Stanley Tucker another JUCO name to watch too

I would imagine if we don't see a signability swing here, we won't see one at all. Guessing we will see mostly college players who fit their profile and maybe 1-2 high HS kids they are high on they can sign for 150K

Basically all the players that either Kiley McDaniel or BA had linked in their mocks as interest after the first round have been picked by the Red Sox. For that reason I definitely have my eyes on Eric Snow and Henry Godbout tomorrow to start day 3.

Looks like the Sox have been saving money today so far with the picks. Wonder if they'll take a shot at one more signability guy. Probably tomorrow, but maybe one guy in these last few round today. Almost all of the HS Catchers they were linked to are still available as are Drew Faurot, Henry Godbout, and Eric Snow who they have been connected to. It feels like there is some money left to take a shot here today and once or twice after round 10 tomorrow.

Mason McRae ranks Alex Hoppe #124 overall on his board (very analytic driven approach) and has this breakdown:
"REPORT: Hoppe throws gas and has feel for over supination and pronation, a skill seen rarely out of college arms. Throwing his fastball up to 99 and ranging between 94 and 97, Hoppe has high efficiency on his heater at 1:00 and gets a good amount of backspin on the shape throwing from a generic release. While the results don't scream elite pitch, he throws his fastball a ton, and so this has led to a whiff rate slightly lower than the expected rate given the quality of the pitch. It's a 60-grade pitch. His slider is his best pitch, a mid-80s power-sweeper with 11" of glove side break, he throws the shit out of the pitch and it performs as such; with hitters whiffing more against it than they make contact - it's a pitch you rarely see touched up. You'd like to see him throw the pitch in the zone a little more, but it's a 70-grade pitch. He has a decent changeup shape, but lacks feel for it, so its just a 50-grade for now with the potential to be a 60+ if his command of it gains traction. Hoppe in his fifth year, and turned 23 years old in December, but Mason Miller was the same age and got taken in the 3rd round due to similar traits Hoppe possesses, so he could get snatched up by a team like the Dodgers or Astros at some point in this upcoming draft."

Carrabis tweeted out this cryptic pic of him and Trevor Story. Definitely makes me think something is up. He absolutely has sources and has tipped things before. If it doesn't end up in Boston now I will be even more devastated. Hopes up.

According to Rosenthal in the latest Athletic Piece the Astro's talks with Correa are going no where and there is pessimism that he is back in Houston at this point. I mean come on at some point the Red Sox with Cora in place need to just jump in and take what is right there in front of them..

Doesn't sound like Red Sox are in on Soler anymore (if they ever really were).
It really seems like the big moves will come via trade, but for who? I am really getting tired of waiting.
