109 pitches thru 7 for Odorizzi. On the other hand they're not saving him for the post-season.

Perhaps Swihart should get some reps at 1B as well. If Leon or Vazquez is catching there is no reason to have to huge holes in the lineup.

So if Porcello gets a start in an NL Park in the Series does he bat 8th and Leon 9th?

Mookie's been cool for a while now and he is the pace setter, when he heats up again things will be fine.

What do Chris Sale and Yoan Moncada have in common ? Both lead the league in strikeouts?

It's too bad the MFY have such a tough schedule as compared to the Sox. s/

A lineup of Betts, Benintendi, Moreland, Martinez, Bogaerts, Devers, Kinsler, and Bradley with Sale pitching is unbelievable. You could probably use a catcher, a resurgent (or emergent) Swihart fills the bill.

Houston's had their ups and downs at home this season. Unbelievably they actually have a better road record than the Sox, but not by much.

Half the board is obnoxious every time a relief pitcher gives up a run. Guess some Red Sox fans can never be happy unless every game is at least 8-0. Hey, they're on the road so 9-0!!!!!!

Win or lose, the Sox will be best off to avoid extra innings the next 2 games. That could be disastrous. They'll just put Mookie in for however many shut down innings are required.Edited for disastrous typo

Not sure how efficient you can be when striking out about 9 batters per 7 innings. It's not like they all go down on 3 pitches. Perhaps you'd prefer he gave up more contact?

Mookie is seriously up against Ted Williams as best all-time Red Sox player. Best all time seasons too. Ted Williams has had maybe 1 or 2 years better in his career which is stupid good. We are talking Ted Williams!!! Yep, Mookie's OPS is up to 1.114 just .002 behind Teddy Ballgame's OPS.........for his CAREER! Yeah I know Mookie literally could have run circles around Williams, but let's pause to realize that in addition to OPS Mookie's BA this year leads Ted's CAREER BA by only .008 and is 54 point behind the sacred .406.

@oregon Norm I keep stats for a 12 team senior softball league and have a similar issue made worse by the fact that the overall league batting average sits a bit .500 with OBP a few points higher (not a lot of walks in slow pitch). What I did was take ISOp for the power (or in this case Extra Base Factor -XBF since some guys turned singles to doubles because they could run well while others turned home runs into doubles because they couldn't). Add that number to OBP and the result passed the eye test for what we thought of hitters better than OPS.

If this board is so quiet because people are watching a Patriots meaningless PRE-SEASON game, they have to turn in their fan cards

Couple of interesting counting stats.
Red Sox as a team have committed 55 errors, Devers has made 20 of those BUT it is an improvement in his fielding percentage from last season. Kid is apparently a hard worker on both sides of the ball and with his obviously good hand/eye coordination may ode well for continued improvement. (Also upgrade from Nunez to Kinsler at 2B speaks well for the team's overall D.)
Houston has a ridiculous ERA edge, first in the league at 3.00, Sox are 2nd at 3.46 BUT the Sox league leading offense averages 0.44 runs per game more than Houston. Watching those 2 teams play each other could be as good as it gets.
