This will get interesting in a few days to a week. Where does he ultimately get assigned and how does the playing time get divvied up.

Nice little double header for Lowell. Wish they were playing Tri-City. I've got the day off and twenty bucks I wouldn't mind spending on a pair of tickets.

I'll be at the Spinners game getting some video for the YouTube account. Weather permitting of course.

Greenville might not have the sexiest rooster but all of a sudden they look like a team that can win some games....and yes I can't spell.

Ive noticed that bogaerts hasnt moved up in the lineup at all. Actually may have moved down a spot at some point (6 to 7). anybody think this could be a way to get him comfortable hitting lower in the order? 7th seems like where he would hit if called up

Callahan looked good against a pretty bad Tigers lineup. He commanded his fastball well at 90-93, and was able to mix in his curve and change well. Threw a handful of good curves and a couple good changeups, but he mostly beat batters with the fastball.
His mechanics are interesting. It doesn't seem like he would be able to repeat them well but he was pretty consistent throughout the game. The inconsistent secondary pitches and rigid mechanics make me think he may profile best as a reliever, but he's still got a lot of development left.

He's still a month away from turning 19 so, like you said, he's still a long way away. Any luck getting him on video?

Yea I got him, Mike Adams, McGrath, Allday, Lin, and Asuaje. I like Asuaje. He showed some serious speed on that triple in game one, went first to third on a single to shallow center, and as I was typing this just pulled a ball deep down the right field line that was foul by about 10 feet. It easily cleared the fence, and he ended up drawing a walk anyways.

Alex Hassan is en fuego. If the power he's hit so far this year is sustainable, he could become a very interesting player indeed.

When do we go from Hassan is just in a streak to perhaps he has improved and is a player to notice? Or do we? I do not if he has improved. But he has been labeled as a meh prospect, perhaps a fourth outfielder, and sometimes it is hard to break that label. Maybe he still is, but has anyone seen him lately and can comment. Sox could use another bat.

I saw Hassan last week but can't say too much with authority. Still choking up sometimes but is hitting some long 2bs (I saw one) and hrs. I saw him in RF once and he seemed OK, although there was one 2b on a big pop near the RF line where RDLR might have hoped for a swifter RF chasing it. I say he's definitely risen to "could be a Nava."

Curious as to what's accounting for McGrath's K rate. Has his stuff improved? Deceptive delivery? Left-handedness?

Curious as to what's accounting for McGrath's K rate. Has his stuff improved? Deceptive delivery? Left-handedness? McGrath is very interesting. He threw a few changeups that were really really good, and the hitters had no shot. He also snapped off a few really good curves that froze the batters. However, he was inconsistent with both pitches, leaving a couple changeups elevated for hard contact, and he also hung a few curves. The changeup flashed plus, and the curve showed promise but still needs a good deal of work. He started the game with poor command of his fastball, consistently missing arm-side and high. He was able to get it over the plate more later in the game, but he was still living up in the zone. A better hitting team will take advantage of that as he does not have overpowering velocity. There is hope that McGrath can add more velocity but he looked pretty filled out despite just turning 19. I couldn't see it, but there must be some deception to his delivery, as the hitters were frequently late on his fastball. Could just be because of the poor opponent though.

Thanks for the report, Jim! Did you get a read on his fastball? Sounds like he's not improved in that ares, was just curious. Interesting to hear his secondary stuff is so good given his age and where he grew up.
