While he has some potential I thought this was a little exaggerated and optimistic -
[If Stank] "can replicate his successes from 2014 and 2015 at the Double-A level, he may find himself in the top-10 of the Red Sox prospect rankings heading into 2017."
According to the author, his successes were durability, lack of walks, a few game where he put it all together, and ok stats. In order to move into the top 10, he really need to improve on those successes. Better K numbers, for example. Better GB%. He's a decent potential #4/#5 starter if he keeps developing. Unless the Sox trade away a couple guys ahead of him, however, I think he is likely to be traded away. I hope he improves and has a little more value. I'd really like to see one of secondary pitches make a huge gain this year to where one cold say it has plus potential.
He'd also have to pitch a lot better to reach that point, as you point out.
I did think about that, but like you said, it's unlikely. Maybe 1-2 of those graduate, but not all or almost all. It's just as likely, I think, that a few guys below him shine and leap ahead of him. Lakins & Brakeman are good candidates. Ysla and Jerez perhaps if they can show they are viable ML late innings lefties. Chris Acosta and his pedigree? Aybar, Glorius, Beeks, Taylor? Cedrola, Raudes?
