We need a good run here in this 16 game stretch.

He's just that good. 3.13 career ERA against Boston. 3.14 career ERA in total. That shutout last June against Morales was one of the better pitchers duels in recent memory.

This would be as good a time as any to call up Xander. Yes it's tough for a kid to get his feet wet with Felix, but if anyone can overcome adversity it's Xander.

Wrong pitching matchup, hombre. How do you know I wasn't predicting a Red Sox win?

Ive seen a lot of baseball but never seen that before. I only have the box score to look at but what are you talking about? Iggy getting out? How did he get out?

Iggy tried to stretch a single off the monster into a double. He got thrown out at second but avoided the tag and slid past the bag. Iggy then got up, avoided another tag I believe, and ran back to first. Ultimately he ended up in a pickle and got tagged out.

Ok, so there is not one red sox writer that could explain clearly to me what iggy did in 140 characters. Could someone here attempt? (no word limit)
He was safe at second then ran back to first??

Jerry Meals deserves to get punched in the throat.
Just an abysmal umpire no matter where he is.

Thanks for the description.

The mistake was going to second. After that it was a pretty nice slide to avoid the tag, he just couldn't stay on the bag. He was then in no-man's land and his options were to accept being tagged out or start running towards first.
I also liked the spin move to try to get out of the pickle.

Who needs Peavy? Workman in his 1st 3 starts has looked as good as anyone in those 3 as anyone (other than Buch) in the entire rotation this year.

"Who needs Peavy?" ----------------------
Well yes Workman is on his way to W #1 but if Peavy's price isn't crazy I think he's going to be at Fenway Thursday. Workman's tempo and curve look great and though his fastball looks a little straight he hasn't been hurt yet. Very nice job.

Sox really need to work on base running @brianmacp: The Red Sox lead the American League with 46 outs on the basepaths, including two tonight. (That doesn't include caught-stealings.)

I love watching guys who can throw the curve for a strike to start off a batter.
