So it looks like every team other than Portland and Greenville is in a playoff hunt right now. Good stuff.

Entering 8/20 (Teams in BoldItalics have clinched a playoff spot. Teams in Bold would make playoffs if season ended today. Teams in Italics reasonably in playoff hunt.)
Pawtucket, 69-60, 14 games remaining IL North: 2nd place, 2.0 GB of Rochester IL Wild Card: 1st place, 1.0 GA of Norfolk
Portland, 61-66, 15 games remaining EL Eastern: 4th place, 18.5 GB EL Eastern, 2nd place: 3rd place, 5.0 GB of Trenton (1.5 GB of NH)
Salem, 31-25 2nd half, 64-62 overall, 14 games remaining CarL Southern, 2nd half: 2nd place, 1.5 GB of Myrtle Beach CarL Southern, 2nd half, 2nd place*: 1st place, 1.5 GA of Carolina * = If Myrtle Beach wins Southern Division again, second-best second-half record makes playoffs
Greenville, 25-29 2nd half, 47-76 overall, 15 games remaining SAL Southern, 2nd half: 6th place, 8.0 GB SAL Southern, Overall Wild Card**: 7th place, 24.0 GB ** = If Savannah wins Southern Division again, second-best overall record would make playoffs
Lowell, 34-23, 16 games remaining NYPL Stedler: 1st place, 0.5 GA of Tri-City (NYPL Wild Card: 0.5 GB of Jamestown and State College)
GCL Red Sox, 28-23, 9 games remaining GCL South: 1st place, 1.0 GA of Orioles
DSL Red Sox, 44-22, 5 games remaining DSL Boca Chica Northwest: 1st place, 5.0 games ahead of Royals (can clinch with win over Royals today) (DSL Wild Card: 1.5 GA of leader)
So as of right now, 5 affiliates would make the playoffs. Can't remember having more than what, three?

I acknowledge that winning in the minors is not always considered a big deal, but it does seem to show we have some kids that may develop into some real assets for the organization.
Not sure why, but I'm really pleased with especially our DSL and GCL teams. I've mentioned it before, I like how young and athletic the kids we have in Fort Myers. Most will not get to Boston, but there seems like there is a little more to dream on this year (than last). Rijo, those three 18 year old outfielders, and some young power arms makes me able to forget that "black hole" in Greenville (to be fair they have played 500 ball over the last 45 to 50 games).
The DSL team has been strong and consistent all season. Their pitching has pretty much dominated and we have many 16 and 17 year olds playing every day instead of too many 18 and 19 year olds. Love that pitching!

Is it possible for portland to make the playoffs and if so what has to happen? Not any more, no. (FYI, the playoff chases have been getting updated in the gameday threads every day.)
