I just can't see them paying a massive contract to Choo when he can only hit against righties. He's horrendous against LHP, and that's already one of the weaknesses with the current roster. The platoon options aren't very favorable if he's your RF and you already need to platoon guys in left If you switch his splits into Home/Road and L/R then he is actually only struggling against Left handed pitchers on the road. This may be partially because he plays in a hitter's park but since Fenway is also a hitter's park, it may play the same way. Remember, The Red Sox have Gomes next year as well and Victorino doesn't need his support. So Gomes can sub for Bradley/Choo on any given night vs a lefty. Then that .424 OBP would sneak over .450 (in theory). Either way, there doesn't seem to be a legit righty-handed masher on the market - unless we want to go back to dreaming of a Stanton trade.

The more I look at the off-season landscape, Mets-Phils-Mariners-Jays-Cubs (last two less likely but possible) are all players. If Ells is only about the cash and not whether he thinks one of those teams will win any time soon, they are possibilities. Otherwise, Texas, SF, Sox, maybe even Orioles would be in play. I could see Texas making a big run at Ellsbury. He makes a lot of sense for them. In my mind these playoffs are huge for Ellsbury. If he does really well, he can command a huge payday. If he does bad, he can try to blame it on the injury, but I doubt teams will buy it. The Sox will throw the QO out there for Ellsbury, put up a fair offer on a long term contract, and then we see where it goes. Drew can really help himself with a good playoff as well. But regardless of how he or Napoli do in the playoffs, I think they both deserve QO offers from the Sox. Salty remains undetermined in my book.

I agree with half of this: with a great post-season, Ellsbury can push his stock a little higher, but with a blah post-season, teams' view of him will be right where it is right now: very high.
