Which is why they should consider trading for David Price, as hard as it would be to watch Cecchini, Barnes, Bradley and Betts for teh Rays.

Over/Under 15K for Scherzer?
I'm going with 13.

Will someone please tell these guys that they are allowed to swing the bat with two strikes!

That's 11 swings and misses over Scherzer's first 51 pitches. So it's not like they're having any success even when they are swinging. Just incredibly nasty stuff from Detroit pitchers so far, and it's tough to blame the Red Sox hitters too much.

WMB has been hot garbage for 4+ weeks now. Xander should be in there from now on. I really thought he would hit a walk off HR last night. Funny overreaction going here. please explain to me how WMB has been good

Im thinking they should scrap the plan and start swinging at the first pitch. Right now being patient has scherzer on pace to throw 7 innings and about 15ks.

looking on strike 3 is unacceptable at this point, protect the fucking plate.

Look, these are great pitchers throwing really well. Sox have to stick to their plan, go with the approach they're comfortable with, and try to find some mistakes.

Brian MacPherson @brianmacp Half the Red Sox swings have resulted in misses.
So... uh...

There's something wrong with Buchholz-- he's missed awfully on four pitches in a row.

Looks like just a random bout of wildness, thankfully.

It's never fun when something like this goes against you, but it is possible that we may be in the early stages of witnessing the single most dominant team pitching performance in the history of the game. Sometimes the stars align and you see something you've never seen before.
We are in the 4th inning of the 2nd game of this series, and EVERYBODY in the Sox lineup has a batting average of .000 for the series so far.

Yet we sat Nava aka "The Killer." Right. He's not in the lineup. To compare to this early on, but in a slightly different way, I would submit Jim Lonborg's work in the 1967 WS, where in his first two starts in games 2 and 5 he gave up a combined 1 run and 4 hits. He ran out of gas in game 7 having to pitch on short rest after carrying the team to the WS in the first place, but the first two starts were golden. The one run he gave up was in the 9th inning of game 5, and of course, you don't see 9-inning games out of starters very much any more (forgive me, Wainright).

Alright, let's try a bunt at Cabrera. It can't hurt, it really can't at this point.

Um, if Xander is good enough to pinch-hit with the game on the line in the 9th inning (against a right-hander, nonetheless), shouldn't he be good enough to get the start over Will? How about he gets the start over Drew.

How frustrating is this ALCS. 1 bloop single in 14 innings.
