Nick Cafardo ?@nickcafardo 28s Also from Boras, Stephen Drew went to the eye doctor before Game 6, got some new contact lenses and homered and hit the ball hard 3 times... You know, part of me loves Scott Boras. I really enjoy his moves like this ... hilarious. I remember another Red Sox player pulling this line out of their rear end one time.. Trying to remember who it was.. Think it was Jim Rice? The guy was really stinking it up over a long period, then all of a sudden started hitting again and that was what the player credited it to. Just my 2c.. Used to wear contacts also, play some ball also, hit in cages.. You can't tell you need different contacts? (also wore contacts) You got got problems. My feelings at least.

Don't anyone tell Drew, but they gave him placebo contacts.

Koji has been incredible. I know he's 37 but you don't want to extend this guy another year or 2? He was only paid $4-$5 mil last year but his value was $16.5 mil. And he wasn't even closer for much of the year.
I have no problem giving him some extra cash and keeping him around. And he would be my closer next year for sure. I know that relievers are a crapshoot but he has been really good for a while now. It didn't just start this year.

What a season. This world championship is so different than 2004 and 2007, particularly given how awful they were in 2012.
I happened to be in Philly for Game 6 and I watched the game at the Field House bar. Who knew there were so many Red Sox fans in the Philly area as the bar was at least 70 % Red Sox fans, one or two Cardinals' fans and the rest a bunch of Sixer fans who were trying to watch their team upset the Heat on the only two TVs in the bar showing the basketball game.
I will enjoy this for a while before thinking about tender offers, free agents, trades, etc.

OBSTRUCTION! How spectacular is it that the obstruction play can now be brushed off or at the very least sighed about in joy? Could have gone down as one of the more tragic parts of a failed WS trip, and instead it's an afterthought I was thinking about this during the series ... 10 years ago, that would be all anyone would've talked about for the rest of the series, and Sox fans would be CONVINCED that it was another example of the Curse, dooming the Sox yet again, sports reporters would've asked the team about it endlessly. But not anymore, and especially not with this team. Did anyone really think that'd get this particular Red Sox team bent out of shape or anything but more determined to win? Such a fun year, a great match of fan base and players. Really doesn't get any better than this as a sports fan.

Koji Uehara and Junichi Tazawa became the first teammates in history to each appear in 5 games of a 6 game Series. The only other comparable or better feat: Darold Knowles appearing in all 7 games and Rollie Fingers in 6 for the 73 A's. In theory, there may be teammates who each pitched in all 4 games of a sweep, but I'm not going to bother checking. That seems amazing, but I can't find another time it happened. Here are some other recent similar examples, just because it's kind of fun and I need a good middday distraction: -Mike Stanton and Mariano Rivera both appeared in four of the five games of the 2000 World Series -Two setup men, Felix Rodriguez and Tim Worrell, pitched in six of the seven games of 2002 (Rodriguez was nasty in those days with the Giants, but didn't actually pitch that well in '02 to my surprise) -Neil Cotts and Bobby Jenks pitched in all four games of the White Sox 2005 sweep -Ryan Madson and JC Romero pitched in four of the five games in 2008 I went back to '88, and I'm sort of shocked that LaRussa didn't have one of these.
