Cosart comes after Appel and Altuve after Foltynewicz on the 25 and under list. Not a bad system considering they'll be adding Rodon. ---- Seattle ( www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=22172 ) 1. RHP Taijuan Walker 2. 1B D.J. Peterson 3. LHP James Paxton 4. RHP Victor Sanchez 5. RHP Edwin Diaz 6. LHP Luiz Gohara 7. SS Chris Taylor 8. LHP Tyler Pike 9. C Tyler Marlette 10. OF Gabriel Guerrero Doesn't rank Hultzen as a wait-and-see after he returns from labrum surgery. I think that's kind of a cop-out, but let's be honest, that's probably the way major injuries should be dealt with - who the hell knows how he'll look when he returns. On the loaded 25-and-under list, Zunino-Franklin-Montero-Miller come after Peterson, and Erasmo-Maurer after Paxton.

I like C.J. Cron from the Angels system. I know this isn't the place but I'd start with Lackey for Cron as a starting point to a trade.

Chicago ( www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=22242 ) 1. RHP Erik Johnson 2. SS Tim Anderson 3. RF Courtney Hawkins 4. RHP Chris Beck 5. RHP Tyler Danish 6. SS Marcus Semien 7. 2B Carlos Sanchez 8. 2B Micah Johnson 9. CF Trayce Thompson 10. RHP Francellis Montas Yup, Montas is in their top 10. Future potential of a High role 5 player (setup), likely a role 4. Their 25 and under list actually doesn't look terrible. Sale, Garcia, Quintana before Johnson, Viciedo before Anderson, Reed before Hawkins and Rienzo before Beck. No sign of Brandon Jacobs, who was pretty bad with Birmingham after the trade (.237/.291/.327, 50 k in 176 PA).

I like C.J. Cron from the Angels system. I know this isn't the place but I'd start with Lackey for Cron as a starting point to a trade. No. No way. Lackey is a valuable player who lived up to his contract last year. From what I've seen, Cron is overrated, a one tool player with limited mobility. He looks like he's been taking lessons in plate discipline from Trumbo.

There are a couple of systems I would take ahead of Boston - I mean system in a vacuum because there is no prospect in Baseball I take ahead of Bogaerts, yes I am a homer - systems like the Cubs - I mean they have one of the strongest groups of hitting prospects in a while - Like the Twins - They have depth AND star quality coming up - Like the Pirates - Again star quality and depth.
Not that I think the Red Sox are lagging behind or that I care who gets rated # 1 - I think thats a load of BS, I mean the Cardinals will be hurt because many of their prospects are in the Big Leagues now, the Red Sox will be hurt because Bogaerts will graduate etc. - Just that I think there are a couple of systems out there that I like.

I agree with you throughly. Actually, the Twins do have one of the best systems I remember in quite some time. I think the Red Sox have a Top 10 system, you'd have to be pretty down on a LOT of guys to not rank them as such. And if 2-3 guys from this past draft break out or even show more upside next season, I don't see how you don't rank them that high even if the Bogeyman graduates. The thing I like about this system is that they're clearly not the best, but are set to be among the best barring some really bad luck. I mean, not even giving Oakland Head has slowed us, since he stagnated in AA. If Trey Ball so hard in 2014, watch out.

Yeah the system is very deep in very good perhaps not great prospects which will help things.

I love me some Kohl Stewart. His potential as a HS arm is off the charts. Wish there would have been a chance for Boston to land him. I think he is a special talent.
The part I found very interesting on the podcast was Jason Parks statement that Minnesota's prospects from 11 to 20 would rate higher than a few teams 1 to 10 prospects including the LA Angels and Detroit Tigers.

Well he had a 3.9 BB/9 in 70 or so AA innings and it hasn't been a problem in his minor league career, 3.3 in 207 innings, so I'd say he's doing a good job refining his arsenal.
I have to say I was against them re-drafting him, weary of of his control/command after it had been so bad in his freshman and sophomore season. It gives me a good lesson, so far, of not giving up on tall pitchers with his kind of stuff, they may take longer to develop some consistency.

Write-up also mentions that the top 7 could all make the Top 101.

Wow I like Bonifacio and Dozier, but they kind of slot into that mix of "interesting but similar" prospects that make up the top 75-200 list. I won't complain of they both make it but I won't complain if they don't either.

I wouldn't have pegged Duffy as still under 25. Seems like he's been going sideways forever.

Redsox farm is deff one of the 5 best in baseball for me. We have depth and high end talent and some star players. Bogaerts is the obvious star but Henry Owens can make a case at some point in 2014 as the top Lefty in the minors an think he is a star prospect. Plenty of other guys who have allstar potentiel. Plus guys like Henry Ramos who could bust out make a case this time next year as a top 100 prospect because he an others are very talented players even if they are not big names around baseball right now.
