I'd expect quick promotions on the pitcher side. Johnson to Portland, Light and Kukuk to Salem, Ball and Buttrey to Greenville could all happen before June.

That is an ugly position player roster for Salem - 9 players 24 or older, 2 under 22. Not a true prospect in the bunch.
None of Perkins, Moore or Allday made a full-season roster.

Are injuries a possibility for those guys? Are Perkins and/or Moore candidates to be cut? Or is it too soon?

Hissey presumably goes to Pawtucket to fill JBJ's open spot.
EDIT: Confirmed.

Are injuries a possibility for those guys? Are Perkins and/or Moore candidates to be cut? Or is it too soon? Injuries are a possibility. More likely is the Red Sox organization's proclivity to keep all hands on deck to begin the season. I expect lots of changes between now and June. For Perkins and Moore, specifically, staying back in XST allows for more targeted instruction, but I wouldn't read their failure to make Greenville as a good sign.

Much worse for Perkins than Moore. XST was a realistic projection for Moore. Perkins, if healthy, not so much. He was working out with Salem in ST, meaning he was on Salem/Greenville cusp.
Also, my guess is that there was a chain of "promotions" when Bradley was called up of Hissey from Portland, Greenwell from Greenville (giggle), and Kapstein either from XST or to active roster when he'd have been inactive. Complete speculation based on Greenwell's tweets.

I think we can see here there is good pitching everywhere and to me in this draft the Sox may target a lot of outfielders.

Did you see Perk play in a game? I don't think I saw him at all in game play (between 3/17-3/24). FWIW, since someone mentioned him above, I saw Allday in a few outfield drills but only saw him coach in actual game play.

Only saw two days of his team playing games though, so I'm unsure. Also, I'll rescind the general comments after realizing that Perkins hadn't played two seasons in Greenville. Not sure why I thought he had.

Not sure why I thought he had. Every time I see Perkins I am not impressed. I have probably seen him 5 to 6 times and nothing stands out and his bat looks slow. Put that together with him being no more than an average outfielder, and I'm not on board. He started out raw and has not progressed. Nick Moore at times in the GCL impressed me, but with him seemingly moving to 1st base, he is a long shot too. I'd love to see Amiel and Ben go after some "bats" this draft, but I understand there are some pretty impressive arms. I know this belongs somewhere else, but I'm still reeling from us missing a chance to draft Frazier. I am really looking forward to seeing Devers this year.

It's confirmed that Linares, Cousins, and Taveras were released. Drew Turocy retired - he had a back injury last season, but no idea whether that was behind the decision. Wilfredo Boscan is in extended spring training. He signed late in the offseason, which caused all kinds of visa problems with everything that's been going on in Venezeula, which led to him reporting even later. Sounds like it was/is a nightmare: msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/crisis-in-venezuela-hits-home-for-many-mlb-players-022214

Interesting that Hinojosa and Britton reportedly did not make the Pawtucket rotation, getting bumped by Chris Hernandez and Jeremy Kehrt. That likely shuts the door on Britton as a SP, and is not a great sign for Hinojosa. Those guys are probably more in a piggy back situation. Especially when Barnes comes back there are going to be multiple games where two starters pitch three innings or so. Further actually being in the rotation doesn't mean you'll be a starter anyways. They like to put even future relievers in the rotation when they can.

Although I work out of town almost all of the time, which would preclude me from seeing the April series, I plan on attending as much of the early May series against the B-Mets.
Hoping to get an Owens start in there. Plan on bringing my digital camera and getting as much pics/videos as I can, and post. I am more familiar with prospects than I have ever been, thanks to this site, so i'll be excited to see a lot of the guys.
