I hear lots of talk about the Red Sox letting Bobby V go after the season and possibly making an attempt to get a Manager who is currently under contract by giving up a Player. I would like to hear peoples thoughts on giving up a player, be it a MLB Player off the 40 man roster or a player from within in the organization at at any level, to acquire a new Manager. Also, should Bobby V be fired? I think he should. I don't think we should ever give up any player from any level to ever acquire a Manager, GM or anybody other then a player. What do you think?

Bobby should go and the Sox should replace him with one of the many qualified managerial candidates out there who won't require any sort of compensation beyond their contract.

Agreed. If Farrell really wants to be here, his contract expires in a year anyways. Unless it's nominal compensation (someone from outside the SP.com top 40), it's not worth it. I don't care how much Buchholz and Lester "respect" Farrell, the Punto trade should have done enough to put them on notice.

Farell for the rights to Matsuzaka. ;D Otherwise no players for managers.

I have swung back and forth early about Bobby Valentine, but I'm definitely for "firing his butt" after the season. I've had it with all of the drama he has brought on. After he pinch hit for Iglesias in a meaningless game with the count 2 and 2, I have no sympathy for him any more. He is no genius and a terrible communicator.
As to your thread dmaineah, I would be fine sending a C or C+ prospect for Farrell. I really do like John Farrell, but he is definitely not the only good candidate.

Not a big Farrell fan, I understand the players like him and we saw this season that it is an important part of being a manager but there's more to being the Boston Red Sox manager than being a good guy. I'd be down on giving up prospects (B/B- at most) for Maddon or for whoever plans those shift schemes down in Tampa.
