Mookie has stepped to the plate three times today and reached base all three times. He also has two stolen bases in two attempts.
Ho-hum.

Mookie walks for the 2nd time this game and has now gotten on base in all three PAs today. He then proceeds to steal 2nd for his 2nd steal of the day before scoring his 2nd run of the day on Devin Marrero 2RBI single.
Kid is unbelievable.
Edit: Apparently one other feat of Mookie is to induce all members of SoxProspects.com to post about his exploits in record time.

Trade him. He is making a mockery out of the Eastern League.

He already gets on base twice. Make it thrice. The kid is unstoppable. The only one who can stop him is dean smith..

De La Rosa pretty much wrapped up Pitcher of the Month tonight, barring a real stinker in his next start.
Struck out four consecutive batters swinging at one point, including Chris Parmelee.
Allowed four balls hit into the air, based on the PBP. Seven on the ground. Seven K's, a walk, a HBP, and a bunt pop-out.

Even his out was a nice situational hitting attempt. Runner in scoring position, Mookie went to RF. A flyout on a high 95 MPH fastball.
Also, a little thing, in addition to the stolen bases, in his first AB, he advanced to second on a picoff attempt throwing error.
His on base game streak is now 45 games, 51 including playoffs. Over that streak his numbers are also incredibly high, it's a lot longer than just this year.

Mookie's shadow is so big that his teammate, a top 5 system prospect (or 6, since Mookie should be 5th IMO) switch hitting, extremely athletic catcher, is hitting over .360, OPS'ing over .900 and no one is talking about him.
I'd like to see Swihart's 1:7 BB:K ratio level out a bit, but it hasn't been a problem for him in the past so I'm not concerned much at all.
It's been a fun April for the affiliates.

I think Lavarnwayguy called Mookie to suggest he steal more No, I think he just takes summer courses at Yale. Go MOOK! The guy is insanely great. A sensational alien!

Being overshadowed might be good for him. Although he has tremendous potential he has a lot to refine both offensively and defensively. Just give him enough time for development. That will be better especially for catchers.

Aaron Kurcz (Theo comp) with his first appearance after Tommy John. Hitting 95/96. This could be big.
Also note, Marrero back in the lineup after a toe problem for a few days. Coyle is not in the lineup after a hit by pitch yesterday.
ADD: Nice start for Kurcz, struck out the side (1 hit), sat 94-96, threw almost all strikes (plus a WP). This is a major strike out pitcher for those that don't remember him.

Where is Middlebrooks? He played yesterday, but not today? That was planned (precautionary). He said in his interview after the game yesterday that he felt great but the plan was off day today, games the next two days then join the Sox for the Toronto series. This Portland team is awesome (was BA's #5 rated level adjusted pre-season minor league team). About the only 'disappointment' so far is Ramos. Example, they are going into extras, there have been three relievers, their combined season ERA is 0.00. (Olmsted, Kurcz, Scott).

Where is Middlebrooks? He played yesterday, but not today? Scheduled day off, I believe. He'll be in there tomorrow and the next day and then be reevaluated to see if he can rejoin the major league team.

LOL, crazy announcers. They think it's important that Matt Spring hit a 2 run HR to take the lead when the reality is that the importance is that Mookie gets another AB.
n/m weak ground out.
Portland won in extras 5-3. Not so sure I'm excited about pitching Scott, their closer 3 innings.

I'm going to venture to guess that if somebody were to go through all the game logs that virtually every time there's a runner in scoring position, that Mookie takes the ball to RF. He did that again on his first out, taking a high 95 FB on a line to the right fielder with a runner on second. I think he's clearly situationally hitting every AB which is amazing considering his experience level.

Wendell Rijo 0/4 with 3K. His K% is around 25%. He is not Mookie.

Allowed four balls hit into the air, based on the PBP. Seven on the ground. Seven K's, a walk, a HBP, and a bunt pop-out. I think this is the most encouraging development so far, even better than Betts. Before the injury, De la Rosa could flat-out dominate. Maybe he's regaining that form. I'd love to see some video, or to get first hand reports on his stuff - the velocity/run on the fastball, the secondary stuff, whether he's throwing his slider, all of it
