What are the odds that Mookie will be involved in a double header on July 29th ? Only if Pawtucket is playing one. I have followed the Sox since the 50s and have never seen a phenomenon like him, but I miss alot.

What are the odds that Mookie will be involved in a double header on July 29th ? The HoF induction ceremony is on the 27th at 1:30pm, so no other unforeseen conflicts as it stands today.

So disappointed I couldnt follow the dogs at work.
Although I was concerned about the sleek field and injuries.
Unlike the majors...

Carlos Asuaje is fun to follow. Coming into today he was .356/.484/.603 with 15/11 BB/K in 93 plate appearances. Today he hit his first home run, but he already has eight doubles and five triples on the season. He's doing all this while splitting his time between 3 positions (2B, 3B, LF). When I saw Lowell last year he was my favorite player to watch (Margot was on the DL), and he showed a good swing and plus speed. Definitely a prospect to keep an eye on.

I wonder if the sox will execute a triple switch of 2b or move betts up and Coyle back to 2b. Betts, gragnani and asuaje all could move up.

I wonder if it is a box score blunder but it appears Callahan is relieving?
On second look it was a box mistake.

Please do not over react to this, because I know it's not at all likely but what if The Sox like what they see in Barnes a lot? Do you think it's possible they keep his innings limit low so maybe he could help them more in the playoffs? As the Cardinals did with Wacha last year?
Just saying he could profile as a decent reliever or if he's looking real sharp maybe help them in the rotation. He's looking real good so far.

Carlos Asuaje showed power with hitting his first HR this season. He is really driving the ball well. 15XBH already.

Looks like it's going to be a Thursday Night Special. Next week is Charlotte at Lehigh Valley. Looks like they do a lot of college baseball too. I know ESPN channels do too. Will have to check the draft thread I guess. www.cbssports.com/cbssports

Saw the archive of a lot of the PawSox game. Some opinions..
Barnes looked in command of the game the whole night. When the counts were high, he wasn't missing by a lot. The best way to put it is that he looked like a major league pitcher. Nothing overly nasty but pretty much in control of it all.
Pirates top prospect, Gregory Polanco's tools are obvious. They're going to have the best outfield in baseball real soon. (he's hitting near .400). Barnes struck him out in the first on 2-2 high heat after putting the first 4 pitches low in the zone. Second time up, he induced a dribbler to first (which Lavarnway made a nice play on) off a curve. Interesting tidbit I didn't know, he was originally signed and played as a pitcher. Now he's a toolsy 22 year old center fielder tearing up AAA. Palonco later tripled off Hinojosa.
Most impressive AB I saw was Hassan turning an 0-2 count into an 8 pitch RBI single. Cecchini is faster than I thought he was, not fast but ummm fast for a third baseman. Should have no problems handling the outfield.

I mean, how low do they have to keep his innings in order to get him and extra 10 in October? I'd think that between the late start to the season (for him) and the liklyhood that he'd pitch in relief rather than start in September, plus the extra month (it's not quite the same as cramming an extra 10 into the regular season) would just about do it, no?

Barnes is coming off two straight seasons where he's gotten roughly 120 IP, so you'd conservatively want him to pitch no more than 140-150 innings this year. He probably won't reach that anyway for the reasons okin15 mentions above, so yeah, I don't think the organization needs to do anything particular to keep his innings count low.
