There are many possibilities for the Red Sox 1B both next year and going forward, but I really like the idea of acquiring Belt.
There are many things to like about Brandon Belt. One thing is his great plate discipline. He walked about 15% of the time in the minors and is showing he will walk over 10% of the time in the majors as well.
He also should also hit for a good average. .280+ seems reasonable for him. He has been solid in the field at 1B so far in his career too.
The biggest question with him is his power. Will he be able to hit 25 HRs in a season, or is he more of a 15 HR guy? Tough call, but I think that a move to Fenway would do Belt a lot of good. If his OBP is .380, then 20 HRs would be fine from him as long as he isnt hurting us in the field.
The Giants certainly wouldn't let him go easily, so what would be the price for a guy like Belt?
I've thought of a few trade possibilities that i would be okay with:
Webster + De La Cruz + Shaw
Cecchini + Kalish
Brentz + Ranaudo + Aviles

I'm really high on Webster, Barnes, and Rubby De La Rosa. I would have to be blown away to trade any of those three. The other names you mentioned in some combination would work. I like Belt too and would hope Ben will explore that possibility, but I'm sure the Giants are still rather high on him also. I would love to see our team filled with sub-30-year olds plus Papi, but many teams love their kids a lot too!

I've suggested in the past that, following the Punto Principle, assuming a clubs bad contract may reduce the prospect demands in a trade. In this case, I'd be happy to take on Barry Zito's deal to acquire Belt if it meant keeping one of our top prospects.

Zito + Belt for Brentz might work (or something along those lines).

I'm not a huge fan of Belt's as I wasn't on Lars. Keeping that in mind I wouldn't give up much.

In K Laws chat a few weeks back he said he was still high on Belt and SF has changed his mechanics that has reduced his bat speed. He said a few tweaks and he could regain his previous form. I don't know enough about their needs but they have catching depth and could look to move Posey from behind the plate to keep him in the lineup.

With Lincecum's recent demotion to the bullpen, he now looks to open next season as the giants 4 or 5 starter. As he is on the books for 22 mil it is quite possible that the giants would be willing to trade incecum and belt in a package. Maybe a package of elsbury, RP, Aviles and a solid prospect would get it done

I would like that. He had an ERA under 4 in the second half and still had a good K/9. I think it would probably take Kalish or Brentz too.

I just don't See SF giving up on Lincecum yet. If he was on the Red Sox this year and had the pitched the same do you think the Red Sox would give up on him given his past performance? Would you be giving up on him? I don't think I would give up on him. I would like to get him if we could though I don't think it will happen.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Giants would like to get rid of a contract or two this winter. Lincecum makes quite a bit of dollars, and they have already signed Matt Cain to a big contract. Really doubt they will be as inclined to do that also with Lincecum. Bumgardner will cost a pretty penny himself before too long. I've always loved "The Freak" and would not be surprised if he came back strong. His free agency starts in 2014 just like Ellsbury. Aces are very difficult to come by. When he is right....he is as good as it is. I like the odds myself. A trade including Belt may make a lot of sense. We match up well with the Giants. Not really keen on taking Zito's contract also.

Bumgarner is signed through 2017 with two $12M options for 18 and 19. Hes completely locked up to a team friendly contract. That being said, i think Lincecum is gone after next year anyway, so they probably wouldnt be afraid to deal him if the other team took on his whole salary for next year.

Just my opinion but I don't think San Francisco is going to be shopping Belt. Not even if The Red Sox were willing to take on Zito or Lincecum. And I really don't think that (as wcsoxfan & nomar suggested) a package of Ellsbury, RP, Aviles & Kalish or Brentz for Lincecum (a possible ace SP in a contract year) & Belt (a possible long term good hitting 1B) would interest them.

A healthy Lincecum was demoted to the bullpen for the playoffs. This indicates to me that they view him as being no better than a back of the rotation starter and back of the rotation starters making 22 million have negative overall value. Add in that this is the last year on his contract and the deal they just gave Cain and i don't think he is in their plans moving forward. If we were to offer Ellsbury for Lincecum straight up, I believe Sabean wouldn't even hesitate to pull the trigger especially since Ellsbury would be closer to home and may be resignable. Throw in aceves, Aviles and Brentz/Kalish, who all offer value for the Giants for an OF/1B who the Giants aren't ready to use as a full time starter then i see a deal which could really the Giants(don't forget the money they would save). The big question is whether we should commit to two players who the Giants aren't willing to fully commit to. But I would like to take that gamble.
