Guerra with a HR, showing nice power to go with his average. Add in the scouting reports and he is very interesting. Devers with another hit, though he made an out. Chavis 0-2 so far. We now see why he was benched earlier.
Benjamin Moore watches one just off the paint for a walk.

Good that Devers was sufficiently shamed by the out that he isn't letting it happen again. A double this time. 2/3

Good that Devers was sufficiently shamed by the out that he isn't letting it happen again. A double this time. 2/3 More likely the fielding error that followed a strikeout. He probably sensed being close to being sent back to the Dominican Republic and knew he had to perform. I vote that MiLB.TV broadcast rookie games. 2 K's now. Cancel the work permit.

More solid outings from GCL pitchers, Javier Rodriguez and Keivin Heras.
ADD: Although Rodriguez did have 6 BB's to 2K's, but only gave up 1H in 4 IP. Heras had 3K's and no BB's in 4 IP.

I can just see that happening at some of the facilities. Players 4-5 to 1 ratio over fans would be the most comical aspect, but I like the idea :-)

I searched here and Googled and can't find anything. What's Jalen Wiliams' injury?

When you go to these games, often each team has a designated player or two who run down foul balls. You usually have players in the stands who are not fully dressed to play but have a partial uniform or a work out T shirt and pants on. Some times I've seen as many players in the stands as on the field. That ratio may be even larger than what you mentioned. It is a totally different atmosphere than these guys are used to. Some of these players are very used to seeing hundreds of fans in the stands. It has to be disconcerting to play on a field with 20 to 40 fans. I can see it now as the camera scans the stands and the field. Is there a hurricane we haven't heard about coming?

Fans would laugh hard to see some of the "stadiums" where teams play.. Practice felds, no scoreboards, ballplayers running to get balls.. I've seen players from opposing teams sitting with the OTHER team, you probably have also.. It's really kind of laid back if that's the proper word.

I've never seen more than 10 (and that when you bring an entourage from Bradenton!). What is also fun is being able to converse a bit b/t innings with some of the players in the stands. As long as you have SPF 100 (you can chip it off at day's end) and a gallon jug (water) you will be fine....for about 5 innings. You pray for a brief thundershower just to cool things a few degrees even tho the humidity then approaches critical stage.

Chavis is a bust. Can we convert him to pitching?

Understand you were directing this towards Steve, but am going to interject that have been at TB Yankees GCL games and seen this many fans before (20+), though at Lakeland? It's almost always 3-5.
Ditto on interjecting with players, especially pitchers whom have just thrown. I had the pleasure of chatting with Drehof after the PO game with the Yanks last season in the GCL playoffs and do this sometimes with the Lakeland Tigers and their opponents if something interesting occurred during the game. Different rules for these games, it's almost like the way the game was 40y ago the way players and fans interject with each other and how the game should be now.

It's below sandlot. I have been to games in Sarasota where I was the only fan present. Usually there are b/t 5-10 with maybe a few scouts. Baseball in its base, primitive, innocent stages...sort of. The atmosphere is so friendly and the players so 'wet behind the ears' approachable. If you know anything about their history or stats, their faces light up. It is just damn fun to go...except for the weather.

Why do we only have one Dominican summer team while other organization have two like the Rangers?

Why do we only have one Dominican summer team while other organization have two like the Rangers? I'm not sure of the answer to this, but it did get me thinking... With the Red Sox being limited to signing players for less than $300K for a couple years, perhaps it would make sense to add another team. Three year cycle: Quantity for two years, Quality for one.

I've always wondered the same thing about the GCL, too. The Yankees have two teams. Think about how much depth the GCL and Lowell teams have. I remember a couple years back there was some talk that the Sox were thinking of adding a rookie level team (in the Appalachian league I think). It would be nice to get everyone quality at bats. Having two GCL teams would still allow for the HS and less experienced prospects to get instruction in Ft. Myers, but also get ABs every day.

Light settling in at Salem the last 2 outings, but I'd like to see more K's. Stank with another nice outing. Diaz continues to look sharp in AA. 6 K's in 7IP, that's solid for him and something we hadn't seen much of in A+. If he keeps this up, he's easily protected from Rule 5. Quevedo still not looking ready for a return to Salem.
