Good test for the GCL against a rehabbing Taylor Guerrieri.

Devers only manages a single in his at bat. He made adjustments for his second AB. He's doing the step cycle. Betts2 with #5.

Dedgar Jiminez got the start so, Ty Buttery for the second game. You guys jinxed his BABIP skill: Rafael Devers grounds out, pitcher Bret Dahlson to first baseman Jonathan Freemyer. Simon Mercedes rehabbing in Lowell Devers with 2 errors. Chavis still looking for his first hit.

I bet that HR ball looked like a pumpkin to Devers after singling off Guerrieri. This kid is (going to be) good.

Devers HR was to CF Chavis now 2-2. Legend2 start up. Over under on games before Devers reaches Greenville ? Guerra now hitting .300

They walked him the third time up.

.750/.769/1.417 for a 2.186 OPS Let's not get ahead of ourselves -- he made an out in the 7th. He's down to .643 / .688 / 1.214. Did anyone else laugh out loud when they read the box scores? His first four games in the DSL were .438 / .550 / .813. I think we all thought "he's not going to do that again." A half-baked idea: it seems possible that the usual cold zones for lefty hitters (down and in, for instance) are Devers' hot zones. Kid pitcher sees kid hitter, tries to get him out the way he gets the usual kid hitter out. Oops. After his first crazy 11 games in the DSL (.442 / .537 / .814), Devers only hit .262 / .387 / .344. That could be random but it could also have a component of word getting around about him. .476 / .549 / .857 (51 PA) facing a club the first time (DSL & GCL) .357 / .451 / .571 (51 PA) facing them the second time Just the clubs he's faced four times, the home-and-home series being three weeks apart: .473 / .542 / .789 (24 PA) first game .421 / .542 / .652 (24 PA) 2nd game .235 / .350 / .294 (20 PA) 3rd game .294 / .455 / .471 (22 PA) 4th game .265 / .405 / .382 (3rd and 4th game combined) No way of knowing if they pitched him better in the second series, or whether he just cooled off. But there may be a real component to his hitting better in the very first game against a team.

Dude, DSL games are glorified scrimmages. They're not sitting around before the game prepping like the St. Louis Cardinals trying to get David Ortiz out in the World Series.
