With Nori Aoki needing a platoon, Jonny Gomes is reportedly on KC's shopping list. What could we get for him? I'd aim for a grade C/C+ type prospect, maybe a position player who's in A+ or A- this year. Does that seem like it might fly, or too tall an order? Any ideas on who specifically from their system, or who we might throw in to sweeten the deal? A Kukuk type who needs a change of scenery?

Well, its looking like Bubba Starling could use a change of scenery...
In all seriousness, Jorge Bonifacio is having a down year after coming in as a back-end top 100 guy, B-ish grade. He would be a good get. I'm not sure Gomes fetches Bonifacio even on a down year, though. Jason Adam or Sam Selman are pitchers who might make more sense.
Dominique Taylor is an interesting guy as well. 21 turned 22 for the season with a .305/.338/.469 line in the SAL. Maybe if you're lucky you pick him up (to plug into Salem) along with one of the pitchers.

Interesting C/C+ players in the Royals system include:
Elier Hernandez, 19YO Low-A RF - toolsy but unpolished Orlando Calixte, 22YO Double-A SS - free-swinger with pop, profiles as a utility guy, will be passed by Mondesi soon Christian Binford, 21YO Double-A RHP - plus command, other pitches average at best, profiles as a back-end starter, disconnect between stats and scouting profile (possible comparison: Keith Couch) Sam Selman, 23YO Double-A LHP - sinker/slider pitcher from Vandy, command issues, starting now but profiles as a bullpen arm (possible comparison: Drake Britton) Cheslor Cuthbert, 21YO Double-A 3B - starting to show gameday power, positionally challenged, may be change-of-scenery guy (possible comparison: Michael Almanzar) Ramon Torres, 21YO High-A SS - solid glove, some speed and some power, sleeper pick
edit: to respond to ianrs, Gomes is not going to fetch Bonifacio (and perhaps not Binford), Taylor is possible (although he has six walks all year) and I would pass on Jason Adam.

As someone who would be thrilled if we could turn Gomes into Selman and Adam. I am curious as to why you are down on Jason Adam? Yes he is repeating a level and yes his ERA is high, but he is still on 23 (he actually is turning 23 in about 2 weeks) his peripherals are fine ( over 8K/9 and 2.80BB/9) and his FIP is a very solid 3.51.
Honestly as someone who admittedly knows very little about the Royals farm system, it seems like Adam may be a guy that is suffering from pitching in front of bad defenses. This is his second year running with a strand rate barely over 60% (60.4% in '13 and 61.8% in '14) and a sizable difference between his ERA and FIP.

First, I don't think you would get two prospects for Gomes, unless BOS is paying the entire salary (and probably not even then).
Second, Adam's delivery is a mess (reportedly) and I'm not convinced he's anything more than a bullpen arm. Also, he gives up a lot of hits. I'm more convinced Selman can fix his issues in the bullpen than Adam.

One way the Red Sox should be spending the money they probably will have a tough time spending in future years, is to always pay salaries of players they are trading just to get more value back. I know it probably doesn't work that way, but I'd like it to.

Starling looks like a lost cause, but he's still too high in upside to give up for a type of player like Gomes. That would be awesome though, just to see what our coaches would try to do with him.

I'd love a buy low on Montero. He doesn't have a position but is still young and is having a great year in AAA. Gomes doesn't get it done by himself but we can sweeten the pot.

Sox could really use another SS in the system to be ready for shuttle duty in a year or two. Unless Meneses is the answer (and I once made the argument that he was) then targeting guys like Torres or Calixte are a good idea; basically looking for the next Brock Holt.

I think he'd be relatively cheap and a good person to take a chance on. The position thing is tough for him but if he's a good enough hitter it won't be a problem in the long run between 1B and DH.
