Lowell Spinners ? lowellspinners 32s Nick Moore has been promoted to the @salemredsox after a double, two home runs and five RBI in last two games. Congrats, @nmoore25_! Nick Moore ?@nmoore25_ 8m lowellspinners @salemredsox thank you my Lowell spinners Family! You guys will be missed! But so excited for this opportunity! #wewantmoore Edited what I typed, had my Moores confused. . . . Brian MacPherson ?@brianmacp 14m The @pawsox starting rotation, starting tonight: Hernandez (Th), Wright (Fr), Workman (Sat), Ranaudo (Sun), Webster (Mon), Barnes (Tue). Brian MacPherson ?@brianmacp 14m What that means is that Brandon Workman isn't actually lined up with Jake Peavy (pitching Tuesday), as one might have expected he would be. . . . Mike Antonellis ?@seadogsradio 1m Sea Dogs rotation in New Hampshire: Diaz, Kehrt, Owens and Johnson.

I like Workman, but if he's going to be a starter he really could use the Triple-A innings. Peavy's biggest problem is the home run, right? We'll he's allowed a homer once every 28.3 batters. Across Triple-A and the majors this season, Workman has allowed one ever 25.1.
I'd perfer to see him in Pawtucket until the September call-ups.

Keeping Workman in Pawtucket for about 3 more weeks (real rough estimate) or so means he won't accumulate a year service time this year. That of course is purely coincidental.
I'm also more of a fan of Workman in the bullpen but everybody's mileage is going to vary there.
Since Barnes is highly unlikely, it appears Webster is the closest aligned to Peavy. . . . Brian MacPherson ?@brianmacp 22m Lines Owens up with Workman. RT @seadogsradio Sea Dogs rotation in New Hampshire: Diaz, Kehrt, Owens and Johnson.

Fact that Kehrt is starting is... curious. They don't need him to start. Could just be lining days up coming out of the break though. Could also be that McCarthy is going back to the bullpen in deference to him.

GCL Sox get in 3 innings of game 1 before it got suspended. Devers 2-2 with an RBI, Guerra with the only other hit. Jeffry Fernandez, 5K's no BB's and no hits in 3 IP. He's intriguing.
Game 2 postponed, of course.

I don't know where the games were to be played as I visited both Ed Smith and Twin Lakes and could not find anyone. There was a brief downpour and then.....nothing. The weather channel predicts zero rain chance for the rest of the day. Perhaps the fields were too wet but rain should not have been the issue from my standpoint.

All rain that fell was south of Ed Smith from what I could tell. There were some pretty ominous clouds but they passed by quickly.

Swihart/Coyle not in the lineup. Neither is Gibson. They're giving the All-Stars the night off after traveling.

Diaz has been hanging stuff tonight and hasn't been very pitch efficient. two batters in a row with 2 strike hits. First batter hung a curve, second batted hung a change up. 2-2 in the fifth.
Announcer said Coyle/Swihart arrived at 5PM.
For those not watching the PawSox (like me) Hassan 2/2 with a HR. Smokin' hot.

Swihart/Coyle not in the lineup. Neither is Gibson. They're giving the All-Stars the night off after traveling. When did they move Gibson back to Portland ? Diaz done, scattered hits and wasn't overly efficient but was dominant when he needed to be, generated a lot of swings and misses. Worked his way around some jams. 5.0IP 7H 2R 2ER 2BB 7K 1HRA 2.63ERA 89/58P/S 3/3GO/FO

Hassan crushed a thigh-high fastball for his home run. He looks less choked-up on the bat than he has in the past.
Hinojosa looked pretty dominant. He commanded his fastball well, and guys were late on it (Ken Ryan mentioned that it hit 95, though that might have just been a wild guess). The curveball has some nice bend and can be a swing-and-miss weapon (though it has a little bit of a hump on it, and more advanced hitters may be able to lay off it). He's an arm to watch, and I expect that he'll contend for a spot in the major league bullpen next spring (and maybe this fall, if they move some arms at the deadline).
ADD: Hinojosa's changeup even showed potential. Had guys off-balance on it and kept it down.

Marrero just laced a line drive off Aaron Sanchez, but the shortstop made a great diving catch.

Victorino looked pretty good, by the way. Went first-to-third on a single and scored when the throw hit the third baseman and trickled ten feet away. Was running smoothly, accelerating quickly, etc. and looked much less hobbled than he had when he first started a rehab assignment.

Margot not in the Greenville game, out 2 1/2 games now. Light and Smith both went 5 both gave up 8 hits and both gave up 5 runs and both walked 1 more batter than they struck out. LOL, Mike Zagurski looks like a fire hydrant.

Not dominant, off speed stuff wasn't working all that well, but managing 5 innings giving up only 2 runs with basically one pitch was impressive in its own way. It looked to me as though he wasn't comfortable at all with runners on. Maybe he hasn't had to pitch from a stretch very much this season? (0.95 WHIP in AA entering the game). How long since his scouting report has been updated? It all pretty much fits what I saw except for the "lean" part. Almanzar looked happy to be back, and made some nice plays at third. But after the first inning all he did was swing hard at a lot of air.

His change was definitely not as good as it has been and he was hanging offspeed, something he hadn't been doing. Maybe the all star break will get some of our upper level pitchers a little out of rhythm this week. Weems/Blair continue rolling along, Blair 1/4 with a triple, Weems 1/3 with a BB. Salem and Greenville both lost.
