For those wondering, the Lowell rotation is starting to get REALLY thin, hence the Wilkerson signing. Dioscar Romero has already gone on the long-term DL, Randy Perez has missed at least one start, and Willie Ethington hasn't pitched in over 10 days. Karston Whitson also didn't take his last turn.
That said, I think Ty Buttrey may just stick in Lowell for the time being, given how crowded the Greenville rotation is.

My wife and I are in upstate NY for a wedding and it turns out the Trenton Thunder are staying at the same hotel. I ended up chatting up a couple players and one was former Sox lefty Cesar Cabral.
As bad as I wanted to turn the conversation to say, how he would approach Swihart next time they played the Sea Dogs, Cabral did say he liked Portland and that his change was working real well the last few games. No great scoop but very cool.

LOL, I remember that commercial.
Johnson 7/6 WHIP so they took him out, he was embarrassing the Sox system.
PawSox won 3/2. Shaw with the only XBH, a 3R HR.
Stank walked a batter bringing his WHIP to 8/6.2 so they took him out. 2:9 BB:K ratio
Trade Koji, Layne 10 for 10 in SV opps. Trade Gomes, Middlebrooks with 2 hits.

Kukuk has had two solid outings in a row. If he can keep the walks down, he can be a legit prospect.

Impressive day for all the starters top to bottom, 8 games, Lester to Gonzalez ERA 1.19. No starter with more than 2 runs. The average non all star starter went 6 1/3.
Ranaudo is now 2nd in ERA in the IL, Webster 9th and Hernandez 13th. Wright would be 2nd but he's not near qualified.
Owens is first in the EL, Johnson would be a close second if qualified. (1-2 more starts). Diaz would be 4th but he's nowhere near qualified. Couch would be 7th but he's also not qualified.

Four of the six affiliate games ended 3 - 2 with one concluding with a 3 - 1 score. Not a whole lot of offense, but lots to like in the pitching dept. Nice to see Stanky with a solid performance (9Ks).
