Every hit he gets is another hole in WMB's sinking (quickly) life raft. Have a feeling WMB is long gone before the winter meetings commence. I don't disagree with the general concept but WMB has been hitting the ball well at Pawtucket and not striking out a ton. Hopefully he'll keep doing that or get called up after the trade deadline and increase his value. Napoli's eventual replacement is also not beyond a possibility. Pawtucket has won 11 in a row and he's been a big part of that. Also speaking of 11, Layne is 11/11 in save ops. WMB has a .292 OBP in Pawtucket, and going into last night's action he had a 26.4% K rate (he didn't K last night, so it'd be lower than that now). He hasn't been good in Pawtucket.

How long will the Sox keep Alex Wilkerson at Lowell..Very good numbers thru two starts.. As long as they need him there.

We're talking SSS here but the season stats include when he tried to come back then had to take more time off because his hand wasn't sufficiently healed. Look at the recent games, up until last night a hit or two every day, 3 HRs in the last 7 games and had one robbed by a circus catch. He also has a recent less than 20 K% rate (no walks tho). Signs of life and definite signs that we shouldn't just give up on him. Read the wording, I'm referring to his recent performance and worst case is that we can rebuild his trade value.

Fair enough ... and I'm not really advocating that the Sox should "give up on him." If someone still thinks he can be a RH power third baseman and offers the Sox a trade from that perspective, I'd take it. But his value is probably really low right now, so might as well give him some more time.

Maybe the Sox should give Bogaerts a break (send him down to work on getting his confidence back at the plate) and activate WMP and give him a shot at proving his worth while the Sox need some power. Soon the Sox are going to have to make some kiind of decision on who and where they play, stay or go, that should be the goal of the rest of this season .... what are the long term positions of quite a few players for the teams benefit.
