Last year was sublime. This year you're just as good. I was hoping to watch the same level of excellence next year and perhaps beyond.
Fare well and enjoy the playoffs (again).

It's a shame that it took so long for Boston fans to embrace him. He took a lot of criticism between 2010-12, but I'm glad our parting memory of him will be Game 6 of the World Series.

It's a shame that it took so long for Boston fans to embrace him. He took a lot of criticism between 2010-12, but I'm glad our parting memory of him will be Game 6 of the World Series. The criticism was pretty justified back then in my opinion, but he made a complete 180, and was a huge part of a WS title, most fans may have been a little late, but he got his in the end. Walking off the mound in Game 6 will be a memory neither he or we, will ever forget. Good Luck in St. Louis Lack.

If you had told me in 2012 that I would one day actually really like John Lackey, I probably would have laughed until I couldn't breathe, but he truly earned our appreciation. Thanks, Lackey. Good luck.

The criticism was because he sucked. He was loved when he was good. Pretty much like with every player.

May be the most pop' guy on the club amongst his teammates. And one of the best TJ results years since Tommy John (himself).

I think the outing that really impressed me most about Lackey wasn't the spectacular start against Detroit in Game 3 of the ALCS or his strong start in the World Series clincher (I thought he had actually been more effective in his Game 2 loss), but rather his relief appearance in Game 4 of the World Series on 2 days rest.
The Sox were lucky to survive Buchholz and when Doubront gave me to Breslow and Tazawa it was nerve wracking to wonder who'd bridge the game to Uehara but Lackey volunteered to be the 8th inning setup guy and he protected that crucial 4-2 lead for Uehara to save.
That was ballsy. He was a gutsy guy. Couldn't stand him at first, but I didn't realize how badly he was injured. Give him credit for hanging in there and wish him luck with the Cards. They'll enjoy having him on their team more than facing him.

A healthy John Lackey has been doing the same thing for years, using his pinpoint control and killer slider to run through hitters like they were so many pieces of laundry to be hung out to dry. Great fun to watch and a true gamer. Lester's not the only one with multiple WS rings.

For a long time, Lackey was a leading contender for "worst Theo signing." Being a key part of a WS champion put an end to that, as it should. All our memories should be fond.

Some of us were calling hard and loud to retain Lackey right after it was announced he was undergoing TJ surgery and that was part of the reason for his horrid 2012 season, while many (most) of the Bost fans and especially the media were screaming to either release, or package him away him in a deal and pay most of his salary. you know who you are.
A guy who shows the tenacity on the mound, fights to remain in the game and throws with the pain he did in 2012 wasn't going to sit on his duff after being so awful those 1st 2 seasons. This isn't Carl Crawford here, but someone with a fire in his belly to always be the best player he can and I expect him to continue that way.
Good luck John.

That game versus Verlander in the ALCS will be remembered across the red sox nation! Hated the signing when it occured and even more in 2011-2012, but it's all gone now. Thanks Lack!
