Can't see how people are disappointed with this one

Love this. He grades out overall as slightly better than any of our AA or AAA starters right now, except for Owens. And he's only 21 in AA. And left-handed. All for a rental reliever who could actually rejoin the Sox.
Big win for Cherrington.

This is a pretty great pickup-- they would have been hard-pressed to get a better prospect than EdRod.

I like it. I also see him being a trade chip if we end up trading for a SP in the offseason.

Rodriguez is not currently on the 40-man roster but will have to be protected this fall, I believe.

And he gives great Twitter.

Lol...if true, sox got fleeced again, this time by O's No they didn't they swiped away a top 75 prospect from a division rival for two months of relief pitching. In that case they should have sold the pieces for prospects, or sell them for mlb players. This half azz approach is stupid. No guarantee they can get Miller or Lester back in FA. Then you have crap pitching next yr both in starter, and LH relief. Either er build the team for 2015 or say screw it and build for 2016. As it stands this is ownership dangling the carrot to keep fannies in ballpark by saying look we will be competitive in 2015, and we all know this is at best 70win team right now even with Cespedes, Craig and Kelly. Rodriguez is at least 2-3yrs away provided he even comes close given his mediocrity in 2014

Always amazed at what middling teams will give up for 15 or 16 innings from a relief pitcher.

Once again we go for a player/prospect/draftee having a bad year who looked better a year ago. I mentioned in the trade discussion thread that's their clear M.O..

With the consensus opinion on Henry pretty high, that's a good grab.

I'm pretty shocked the Sox got him for just 2 months of a reliever, even if Andrew Miller has been pitching as well as he has. Essentially the Os are giving up 6-7 yrs of a control on a guy who profiles as a mid-to-back-end starter for about 10-12 regular season IP (who knows if the Os even make the playoffs at this point?).

Whoever said the sox are getting fleeced is crazy. He looks like a potential 3 and if he ever went to the bullpen he'd likely be a very good lefty reliever. 3 above average pitches from a left with good control? I'll take that for 2 months of miller. I also like the fact he was more of a control/command pitcher who saw an uptick in his velocity, makes me think if we move him to the pen he'd probably see another uptick in velocity and still, hopefully, have good command/control of his pitches.
