Where does Drew play in New York? At second? Why wouldn't they just call up Refsnyder, who is killing it at AAA? Refsnyder has problems at second and doesn't project to be good there. He's been playing RF.

Domesday Dan Shaughnessy said we are the Kansas City Royals now ...with a s**tload more pitching. Add: what we need is a phone app that can be set to automatic and resend all of Shughnessy's past tweets to him in an infinite loop.

The fact that Kelley Johnson is on our team just baffles me. Yeah, DFA immediately please. Johnson is currently on the 15 day DL. They can probably stretch it and rehab until Sept. Still makes no sense, Pittsburgh or Tigers could have used him. By my count, with that DL, they have 25 active. To call up Middlebrooks they will need to option Nava or DFA Carp. I vote for the second. (Assuming Ranaudo and a reliever for Miller - Layne ?)

Hilarious that Drew is going to play 2B for the Yankees. Wouldn't want Jeter to selflessly slide over to 2B in a final act of captainly humbleness in order to make his team better down the stretch.

Correct, assuming Ranaudo and Layne. I assume Carp will be DFA'd quickly (assuming Craig is healthy). No chance that Nava goes back to AAA.

Johnson better pass through trade waivers at 12:00 A.M. tonight. We can then trade him to the Cubs and in exchange they can keep the PTBNL.

Joel Sherman ?@joelsherman1 50s #Redsox wanted to save $$$, see Bogaerts at SS, play Middleton at 3b Would be an awesome return for Drew. As long as he can still put the puck in the net .

I am going to bet that in this case this really was the best they could do and no one was going to give them a prospect they liked even if they ate substantially all of the money.
Johnson, once healthy, would probably make it through waivers in August and they can maybe trade him for a prospect they like. He can play a lot of positions, and has a little pop so I would think an NL contender would want him and give up a prospect for him.

Before the day, Sox were at 39 plus Lavarnway 60-day. They are now at 38 plus Lavarnway.

Sweeny Murti ?@yankeeswfan 9m Plan appears to have Drew play 2b every day with Prado mainly in RF and moving to other places when needed.

Domesday Dan Shaughnessy said we are the Kansas City Royals now He's a troll and he doesn't know what he's talking about. If the Red Sox were the Kansas City Royals they wouldn't spend $170M on their payroll in 2015 and we all know they will.

FYI: Brian Roberts was DFA by NYY today.
I would not DFA Carp. With the nagging injuries to Victorino, Napoli, Craig and get Holt optioned ... they can make it to 9/1 with Carp. Carp replaces Drew as the power lefty bat behind Ortiz.
(A reminder that the President of the Carp fan club edits my posts.)
