Some initial thoughts:
- Asuaje seems advanced for that group.
- Jon Denney being absent from that list is a bad sign to me.
- Seeing this list helps put into perspective how much interesting talent we have in the lower levels. There are only like 5 players on that list that I haven't had any interest in as a prospect to date. Really looking forward to hearing reports from instructs!

Devers the big hit last year. Wondering why no Espinoza and Acosta -- is it that a young batter can hold up, while a 16 YO pitcher might overthrow early on to impress?

From his twitter/FB - yes I'm that creep - Espinoza seems to be in Florida, at least he has posted pictures with Diaz and E. DeJesus.
Don't know about Acosta.

Unless eyes were playing tricks on me.. It looked like Jon Denney as the batboy/ball getter during the 3rd game of the GCL finals at Steinbrenner field? Was that not him, or is he injured, still under disciplinary restrictions perhaps?

Slightly notable omissions: Jordan Betts, Reed Reilly, Chandler Shepherd, Daniel Gonzalez. Also, interesting that Teddy Stankiewicz and Trey Ball aren't on the roster...probably means they liked the progress out of them. Pretty crazy that Jamie Callahan and Ty Buttrey are still in Instrucs.

I'd be stunned if Denney was in Florida for the GCL playoffs.
Seriously folks, at this point, assume it's not happening there.

Okay I do, and honestly, I thought the chances of Denney reemerging were quite slim. That said, there was a small, small part of me that hoped he would take this season to complete whatever disciplinary plan the Red Sox implemented and that he would come back during Fall instructs as a clean and focused prospect to watch. I'll stop dreaming by next Spring though, I promise.

There's hope. Luis Exposito lost his 2007 for undisclosed disciplinary reasons and still made it to the majors and is generally well thought of in terms of leadership qualities.

I will be interested to see what Trenton Kemp does. He definitely has pop. I am a little surprised by Rijo and Margot but I guess they want to help them fast track. Baldwin will be another interesting guy.

Had uni pants on and a sweat shirt. It honestly looked like him and meant to ask one of the others as they were leaving before the big bus celebration.. It just slipped my mind. Edit: On another note.. Detroit is pinching pennies this season and not even running a instructional league team, I like to go over to Joker Marchent and watch them a few times, so count yourselves (ourselves) lucky Boston spends what is required for the prospects and vets.

12:25 Comment From Mike from VA Hey Kiley, thanks for the chat. Anyone standing out in Red Sox Instrux (besides Devers)? They seem to have a loaded squad this year. 12:30 Kiley McDaniel: Devers looked really good yesterday, though the results at the plate weren’t great for that game. Seems to be coming along well and the scouts I talked to at the game that have seem him this year were all raving. Margot caught my eye as mentioned above. SS Javy Guerra is a strong glove some guys were on but I didn’t see enough to pass much judgments. Kevin McAvoy was better than I expected, looked like a solid 4/5 starter type. Some scouts were on Danny Mars and Jake Cosart has big stuff if you can work on the delivery. I liked Sam Travis and Michael Chavis as amateurs and they looked similar yesterday as well. From Kiley McDaniel's Friday chat: www.fangraphs.com/blogs/kiley-mcdaniel-fangraphs-chat-92614/

Yup, I knew exactly what you meant. I'm saying I'd be surprised if Denney ever comes back. As for PBSF's comment, Expo lost a year to a single incident. He wasn't sent home multiple times. Based on what I've heard, I wouldn't count on him ever playing again. Nothing's ever certain, but I don't see it happening.

That's a shame, I didn't see where any incidents were reported since he was first inactivated in spring training. I'm also surprised inactivated passes spell check, I thought I made that up.

Well, it is public that he was added to the roster and in the lineup that one game that got rained out, and he was not in the lineup after that.

I don't recall seeing his name in the lineup but did find it strange that they'd activate him but not use him. I don't recall ever seeing that before.

Not exactly sure what you mean by didn't see his name in the lineup. As remember.. It was on the boxscore from the gameday type we see posted in the forums here, unless his name was just added in as a mistake. Which is possible. There was a fairly lively discussion that day regarding Denny, you were involved in it and probably remember and it's me that is confused here?

No, I can confirm that he was there at that time and was probably supposed to play that day. Searching the cup of coffee, it was July 14 he was supposed to play.

Ah OK, I remember the discussion of the activation but I probably never looked at the lineup for the game he was scheduled to play in so I was unaware of that. Since he was never used in a game, I've been under the assumption that he was activated in order to facilitate his working out with the organization as opposed to sitting around his house gathering moss.

That is a good point.. He basically did nothing for an entire season and the off season is another waste. The Sox have nearly 1m tied up in him.. Why not have him at the Instrux league.. They can watch him there and at least get him in an organized league and help can they not?? The kid will be 20 next season.. GCL in his nearly 3rd season? Yes.. He has problems, They may get rid of him, like they did Price, They have not cut ties with Mickey Pena yet.

With Denny they may have 1 million in him but he may have to pay some of that back to the organization for his off field problems.

I'm not so sure the Sox are in a legal position to do that if they chose to. His off field antics have little to do his baseball activities. I remember there was some discussion about that with Austin Bailey but that was a different situation, he was refusing to do baseball related activities like workouts etc. He was directly violating the intent of the contract and as far as I know, they never did that with him.

Ian Cundall ? Ian Cundall#RedSox 1st rounder Michael Kopech threw FB 93-96, CB 78-80 and CH 82 during his 1 inning today. Improved mechanics already. Impressive arm. For those that can't see the staff twitter.

Ian Cundall Ian CundallKarston Whitson was the surprise of the day. Much improved than look in Lowell. FB up to 95 w/late life and located down. SL 84-86, CH 85. Ian Cundall Ian Cundall#RedSox RHP Jeffrey Fernandez sat FB 91-93, SL 82-85 and CH 83 in his two innings. Off-speed pitches and command inconsistent, very hittable
