It says that as of right now he is not playing in Colombia.

Norberto, just wanted to check and make sure you're ok after your Licey squad missed the Liga Dominicano playoffs.

Don't say anything hehe. Neither capital city club made the playoffs. On the positive they could land Devers next year, that'd be great.

Vasquez is hitting quite well this winter. Do you think they may be wearing him a little thin though? I'd shut him down at this point.

Like to see him get some down time and then gear up Spring Training. When does the Puerto Rican League finish up?

The last thing we need is for Vasquez to get hurt or wear himself out early. He is not used to catching so many games I would think. Put him in the ice tub and call it a day. We are going to need him soon. If the goal is to keep him in shape get him a nordic track.

It's not that easy to shut one of our players down who's playing in a winter league. The organization does not have total control of the player. When a team such as Caguas, for example, signs one of our kids, it wants him there for the season. It has sponsors and fans to account for.
Its easier in the AFL, for example, where Castillo was withdrawn after a few weeks in order to advance his development elsewhere in the off season.

I'm not sure I would have had him in the league then. It's not worth the risk.

In 2013 Vazquez caught in 93 games in Portland, 1+playoffs (if any - can't remember and don't feel like looking) in Pawtucket, and he played in 33 games in Santurce. In 2014 Vazquez caught in 52 games in Pawtucket, 54 in Boston, and he's played in 29 for San Juan with the regular season ending this week. So he's barely even ahead of last year.
Also, worth noting he had a break between the season for Boston and reporting to Puerto Rico - he didn't report to PR until mid-November, so he had about five weeks off.
For what it's worth, though, I know the DWL at least has a list that guys can be placed on by their MLB teams if they're unavailable. Norberto can probably shine some more light on that. I think he said RDLR was placed on it, for one. Not sure if PR has anything similar, but I'd be surprised if the MLB club can't exert at least a little pressure on the player and team if they felt like they had to.

Can someone explain to me (Norberto?) why there is a DWL draft? Both Margot and Rijo were drafted highly (one and two overall if I'm not mistaken), but both didn't play. How does this process work?

It's to retain the player's rights for the future. And fwiw, Margot was a defensive replacement in two games.

That's right. It was introduced because the big teams (Licey, Aguilas and Escogido) would gobble up all the prospects. Now it balances out the rosters more. Margot probably plays more next year as he rises to AA.

An update on DRWL Las Aguilas didn't qualify for the final!!! Yay!! There is no threat of them tying Licey for the most titles now. Anyways on to the final.... It will be Estrellas vs Gigantes... Basically if the Red Sox met the Cubs in the 2003 WS this would be the DR equivalent. Las Estrellas haven't won since Rico Carty played some 40 years ago despite being in the city that produces the most baseball players per capita in the world. Los Gigantes have never won, losing to Licey in the finals a couple of times, in their 20 year history. Las Estrellas are riding high and have perhaps the best big leaguer to play in DR in a long time as Cano is suiting it up this year. It's his city with his people, the fans are going crazy about it. Los Gigantes are a very strong team, for Winter League standards, and have a very good big leaguer of their own in Jean Segura. It should be a fun final.
