jays acquire Donaldson for Lawrie and prospects. Going to need some good pitchers to get through that blue jays lineup.

Lawrie, Barreto, and Gravemen is a very light deal IMO.
People said he would've costed Mookie, Swihart and Owens. This doesn't remotelt compare to that hypothetical package.

Add Kendall Graveman, 18 y/o SS Franklin Barreto to the names reported going to the A's.

Full trade: Josh Donaldson to Blue Jays, A's get Brett Lawrie, pitchers Kendall Graveman and Sean Nolin, SS Franklin Barreto. Deal done.

Wow. A shockingly light haul at first glance.

Samardzija is also very much available given how they said Donaldson wasn't available and now this.

Beane just got fleeced. Really like this trade for Toronto. They are going to have an amazing offense. Only way this trade isn't a huge win for Toronto is if Lawrie lives up to the "potential" he once had.

Man oh man that doesn't seem right. Was Bean out of the office and some intern did this? The Jays get Donaldson for an injured 2B/3b who isn't great and kept their top three young arms in Stroman, Sanchez and Norris.

Man it must suck being an A's fan. If I am an owner I am a fan first. If your a tightass sell the dam team. Just my rant for the day.

Maybe Beane sees something in Barreto? Could be his answer to trading away Russell...who knows. This trade doesn't make sense.

Ramirez has had 9 seasons in the big leagues and in 8 of them he has posted a fWAR of 2.9 or higher. I don't think your disagreement is with me - I think it's with history. If you think Ramirez will 'suddenly' become an entirely different player next year than he has been in the past - I would like to hear how you came to that.

Well if that was all it took, that would have been ridiculously preferable to Sandoval.
Dammit, frustrating to see teams give away great players for quarters.
If they are taking quantity over quality, we have a bunch of quantity for Samardzija.

So you're telling me a package along the lines of: Garin Cecchini, Deven Marrero, Trey Ball and Steven Wright could have landed us Donaldson?

I like Barreto a lot - more than most. Not super impressed by Nolin when I saw him. I don't know enough about Graveman. Seems light, but Beane has earned the benefit of the doubt when it's borderline.
I suppose it is worth noting that Lawrie is still just 24.
Donaldson is very very good.
Edit: That equivalent deal being thrown around is below laughable.
