I don't see your point? There's a huge difference between a thread like this one, which openly acknowledges that all such ideas will be highly speculative, and posts that criticize the front office for the trades they didn't make. One is frivolous banter, the other thinks it's serious analysis.

Sign Jon Lester to a 7 year contract with a team option for an 8th year and a no trade clause @ 7 years for a guaranteed $135m and going up to $150m if the option is picked up. The first 5 years he would be paid $21 million each year. Years 6 & 7 would be for $15m each and the team would have an option on the 8th year for $15m with a $5m buy out.
Sign Andrew Miller to a 4 year $36m contract.
Sign Melky Cabrera to a 3 year $45m contract.
Sign Emilio Bonifacio to a 2 year $10m contract.
Sign Nick Hundley to a 2 year $9m contract.
Trade Mike Napoli, Shane Victorino, Yoenis Céspedes, Pat Light and cash to Seattle for Taijuan Walker & Dustin Ackley.
Batting Order
Bonifacio 3rd Pedroia 2nd Cabrera LF Ortiz DH Bogaerts SS Craig 1st Castillo RF Vazquez C Betts CF
Bench
Nava OF,1st Holt 1st,2nd,SS,3rd,OF Ackley 1st,2nd,OF Hundley C
Starters
Lester Buchholz Kelly Competition for 2 spots from; Walker/De La Rosa/Webster/Wright/Workman/Ranaudo/Barnes/Owens/Rodriguez
Bullpen
Uehara Mujica Tazawa Miller Competition for 3 spots from; Layne/Britton/Wilson/Escobar/Embree/De La Rosa/Workman/Rodriguez

Firat thing I would do has already been started. Sign Lester and Sandoval.
Lester - 5 year 120m w/6th year option (20 mil) (vested at 900 innings) to bring it up to 140, plus 10 more in incentives/bonus. Brings deal up to possible $150 mil
Sandoval - 5 yr (100/million)
Miller - 3 yr (30 million)
I would trade Owens, Nava, Barnes, Coyle to the Phillies to acquire Cole Hamels.
Trade Cespedes, Webster & Wright to Reds for Cueto (hopefully sign him to an immediate extension)
Trade Rodriguez, De La Rosa, Marerro & Victorino to Colorado for Gonzalez
Starting Rotation
1. Lester 2. Cueto 3. Hamels 4. Bucholz 5. Kelly
BP
1. Uehara 2. Miller (L) 3. Tazawa 4. Mujica 5. Layne (L) 6. Workman 7. (Noe) Ramirez
Lineup
1. Betts, CF 2. Pedroia, 2B 3. Gonzalez, LF (L) 4. Ortiz, DH (L) 5. Napoli, 1B 6. Sandoval, 3B (S) 7. Castillo, RF 8. Bogaerts, SS 9. Vasquez, C
Bench
B- Craig, OF/1B B- Holt, UT (L) B- Francisco, IF (L) B- Lavarnway, C (Until Swihart is ready to come up)
Prospects saved in AAA: Ranaudo, Johnson Cecchini, JBJ, Shaw, Brentz, Swihart

I have stated before that I am fascinated by this off-season because I have no clue what they want to do or will do. That said, he's what I'd try to do:
Starters Lester Wheeler (traded for Owens or Rodriguez + Cespedes + Marrero + Cecchini or Margot) Zimmerman (traded for Napoli* (or Craig if they actually think he's a bounce back candidate) + Kelly or Owens (if he didn't go in Wheeler deal) + Margot/Cecchini (whomever didn't go in Wheeler deal) and, if necessary one a high upside, non-top 10 prospect). Buccholz Wright/Webster/RDLR
Line-up (not in order after first 3) Betts (LF) Pedroia Ortiz Craig or Napoli* Sandoval Bogaerts Nava/Victorino (RF) Castillo (CF) Vazquez
Bench Butler Nava (when LHP start), Victorino (when RHP) Holt Weeks
Pen Uehara Miller Tazawa Mujica Layne Workman Webster/DeLaRosa etc
In all a pleasant fiction.

Not that it matters, but I doubt NYM have interest in Cespedes after the Cuddyer signing. Just as Washington doesn't need Napoli, since Zimmerman will slide over to first base.

Fair enough I'll give Napoli to the Mets on the as the 1 year guy in that deal (and they add a draft pick opportunity) and sell Cespedes to Wash or for prospects that seal the Wash deal.

Here goes. First off, a couple of assumptions. I would lock in C - Vazquez, 1b - Napoli, 2b - Pedroia, SS - Bogaerts, CF - Castillo, RF - Betts. Also SP - Kelly and De La Rosa CL - Uehara, SU - Tazawa, SU - Mujica, BP - Layne, BP - Britton, BP - Workman. I'm using Alex Speier's off-season primer for my numbers, and assuming after the Uehara deal we have $43M left to spend. In my scenario, that leaves needs at SP1, SP2, 3b and back up C. It also leaves a "glut" of outfielders whom are assets of varying worth (Nava, Craig, Cespedes, Victorino and Holt in a utility role). Personally, I just don't think we can depend on Buchholz, and with at least two "kids" in the rotation already, they need some stability relative to innings and baseline performance expectations. Step 1 - Sign FA Jon Lester (SP1) to a 6yr/$130M deal with a 7th year player option to come back at $5M. Gives him a high AAV, and the 7th year he claims to want to finish his career in Boston, but reduces the AAV to approximately $19.25M (leaves $23.75M). Step 2 - Sign FA 3b Pablo Sandoval to a 5yr/$95M contract, with 6th year player option at $5M. Gets him his 6yr deal and $100M number, but reduces the AAV to approximately $16.75M (leaves $7M). Step 3 - Trade Clay Buchholz and $2M to Pittsburgh Pirates for 3b Wyatt Mathisen. Pittsburgh currently only has 4 starters under contract (Cole, Morton, Worley and Locke). Yes, they have some great pitching prospects like Galsnow, Kingham and Taillon, but those guys are at least a year away. Buchholz with one season and options for them should be very enticing as a 3rd starter whom we all know is capable of more. They made qualifying offers to both Liriano and Volquez, so they could easily take on $10M in salary for Buchholz (up to $17M). Step 4 - Trade Yoenis Cespedes and Matt Barnes to Cincinnati Reds for Mat Latos. While the Reds desperately need a LF with some power, Cespedes on his own isn't worth Latos. While Cespedes and Barnes might be a bit rich, this is to ensure the negotiating window. Extend Latos to 5yr/$90M contract. Difference between Latos extension and Cespedes deal is $7.5M (leaves $9.5M). Step 5 - Trade Garin Cecchini, Deven Marrero, Anthony Ranaudo, Edwin Escobar and Sean Coyle to the Padres for Tyson Ross. The Padres need help literally everywhere on their MLB roster. This gives them a very nice prospect haul to rebuild a terrible team, though they have a surprisingly good farm system. IF they insist on top prospects, I would make this deal with something like Owens, Cecchini and Stankewicz, but I think they'd take the depth and MLB ready (or close to it) names like Cecchini, Marrero, Ranaudo and Escobar. This is the first year of arbitration for Ross, so I'll say his salary doubles to $4M (leaves $5.5M). Step 6 - Re-sign David Ross to be the back up catcher. 1yr/$3.5M (leaves $2M). Line up becomes : RF- Betts(R); SS - Bogaerts(R) - SS; 2b - Pedroia(R); DH - Ortiz(L); 1b - Napoli(R); 3b - Sandoval(S); CF - Castillo(R); LF - Nava / Craig(L/R); C - Vazquez(R). Rotation : Lester, Latos, Ross, Kelly, De La Rosa. Bullpen : Uehara, Tazawa, Mujica, Layne, Workman, Britton. Bench : Holt (everywhere); Weeks; Craig / Nava; Victorino; Ross. Leaves top prospects of : Swihart, Owens, Margot, Devers, Rodriguez, Johnson, Chavis, Kopech, Ball and Guerra after we have traded away current numbers 7, 9, 10, 12, 14 and 15. Commence domination.
