I think the Sox should trade Ranaudo and Allen Craig for Gallardo.

Beware pitchers from the NL Central. Especially average ones.

He has started at least 30 games 6 years running but what has happened to his K rate? He will be 29 in Feb and is a free agent after this year. The Brewers could use a 1B and a replacement at 3B when Ramirez retires they appear to be set at C, 2B, SS, LF, RF, CF.
Middlebrooks & Britton or Wilson

I think the Sox should trade Ranaudo and Allen Craig for Gallardo. I do that deal, Gallardo would be a very solid number 3. Wouldn't like this deal if you think of Gallardo as a number 2.

I see as a 3 or 4 innings eater. I have seen him pitch in person several. He would be a number 2 IF he didn't give up a big inning. He does though, so he is closer to a 4 in the AL East. He has 3 slightly above average pitches with his fastball being his best.
Dmaineh I like your players better. The Brewers already haven Lind, so that is why Allen Craig at first helps them. They Brewers would probably get Craig and Ranaudo. Craig is a little salary dump for the Sox after taking on Gallardo's 13 million dollar contract. Ranaudo's future outside the AL East might keep him as a starter. In giving up Ranaudo, the Sox are giving up a player with little upside. Plus the Brewers will need a starting pitcher.

He's insanely overrated and would probably get rocked in this division. Definitely pass IMO

I think Wily Peralta or Jimmy Nelson for Craig might be a better fit

I think we'd probably need to add quite a bit to Craig in order to pry Peralta or Nelson from the Brewers, but dependent on what those other pieces we'd have to add would be, these are two guys I would love the Sox to acquire. On Peralta specifically he is a former top prospect, and at 26 years old has a career 3.86 xFIP and with a 52.5% career ground ball ratios, he falls in between Porcello (52.1%) and Masterson (56.6%), so certainly fits with a skill set the Sox have been acquiring. However he was their most consistent starter last year, and is under team control though 2018, so he would not come cheaply.
They lost Reynolds so Craig at first base makes some sense for them. Their farm system, outside of Nelson really, is pretty darn terrible, and thier best prospects are probably Taylor (an outfielder) and Arcia (a short stop). Potentially packaging a couple of our non-Owens, Rodriguez or Johnson pitching prospects along with Craig might get them interested, as could Cecchini to replace Aramis Ramirez in the pretty near future.
I don't know how likely the fit is (to acquire Peralta or Nelson) but it's certainly something I'd love to see happen. Not sure what else others think it would take along with Craig to get a deal done though. Something like Craig, Cecchini, Ranaudo and Escobar should be enough for them to pull the trigger on Peralta.
That would give us great pitching depth in Porcello, Peralta, Miley, Masterson and Buchholz with Kelly to the 'pen (though assuming he is starting by the inevitable Buchholz injury around Memorial Day). Still leaves an awesome PawSox rotation of Owens, Rodriguez, Barnes, Johnson and one of Wright or Couch.
Really interesting idea.

I would like Peralta here as much as anyone but I think that's pretty unrealistic. He won't be getting traded. You could make a package that makes sense value-wise, but they could probably go out and get similar pieces in other ways that don't involve trading a cost controlled starter with upside.
