Our old friend Chris Capuano gave up a bomb to former Western Michigan product Adam Rosales. (the yankees suck) I went to school @ Western Michigan, (where Zach Gentile went also) i had a couple classes with Zach, wish he would of panned out for the red sox. Zach played hard(reminded me of Pedroia)

Matt Williams, who is really working as hard as he can to surpass Bryan Price on the "Next Manager Fired" power rankings, just intentionally walked Skip Shumaker with runners on second and third and one out to get the Billy Hamilton. Hamilton hit a two-run single. Intentional walks are almost always dumb. Intentional walks to load the bases are dumber. Intentional walks to someone with a .283 OBP is dumberer.

Now add to that how hard it is to turn a double play on Billy Hamilton...dumbererer?

Indeed, though there were two outs, which means getting the double play in order wasn't even a question. So yeah, even dumbererer - unlike a situation where a fly ball or ground out could've scored the insurance run, any out made by Schumaker ends the inning and it's still a one-run game.

So it does. It actually had said that in two places originally when I first posted it, then edited it out because I realized I'd read the game log wrong. But I missed the second referene and was caught. I will sit in the corner of shame.

Iggy just got an IB in the second inning of a 1 to 0 game. It worked ,but wow.
Also, Iggy will hit enough. It's all on his health as to how great he becomes. Jose rocks.

I don't think he's going to "become" anything. His game is defense, contact, and speed, all of which peak early. And of course the health piece isn't going to get any better with age. He's almost certainly the best he'll ever be right now.

Joey gallo being called up I'm sorry, couldn't not think of this (and laugh): "No, not Jerry GALLO. I said Jerry CALLO - with a "C". Jerry Gallo's dead."

In the span of four days, the Rangers have had two yutes make their MLB debuts?
Trying too hard?

Two thoughts:
(1) Just to think we could have had Gallo.
(2) Didn't Steamer project Jacob deGrom to be the 91st best pitcher in baseball with an fWAR of 1.3? Whoever concocts those projections should be dragged out behind the wood shed and subjected to whatever goes on out behind the wood shed.

(1) Just to think we could have had Gallo. Just think: there was a time when we didn't realize that Deven Marrero and Brian Johnson were better prospects than Joey Gallo.

A poor man's Ryan Howard. But at least he can hit LHP (relatively speaking).

I have not confidance in prospects with a K% north of 30% Including Kris Bryant? Bryant has never had a strikeout rate higher than 30% at any level in the minors. Joey Gallo has never had a full season in the minors with a strikeout rate lower than 30%.

I find it puzzling that the Rangers would just skip AAA with Gallo.

I find it puzzling that the Rangers would just skip AAA with Gallo. Beltre isn't expected to be out long. 2-4 weeks. He apparently was being promoted to AAA on Monday coincidentally, so they just told him to come to Arlington instead. AAA really is just a staging area/finishing school anyway.
