The 27-year-old Perez might have talked his way out of Cleveland with some late-season comments.
I wonder if the Red Sox & Indians would consider swapping Aceves & Perez.
Or maybe expanding it so that the Red Sox acquire one of or maybe even all of; Cabrera, Masterson, Choo

Perez is worth much more than Aceves alone.

What is it with you and wanting to trade for relievers?

What is it with you and wanting to trade for relievers? This is trading our problem child for their problem child. Then it occurred to me that maybe it could be expanded to fill other needs. Besides, what's wrong with acquiring proven bullpen arms? Its not like I'm suggesting trading away anyone of great value. You wouldn't like Hanrahan, Perez & Bailey pitching the 7th, 8th & 9th?

Besides, what's wrong with acquiring proven bullpen arms? Everything. Relievers are a crappy investment.

I'd do Aceves for Perez but I'm not sure Cleveland does. I'd be all for expanding the trade as you suggested (especially Cabrera) but I don't think the Red Sox match up well in terms of players or prospects to get Cabrera, Masterson or Choo.

I mean, if Aceves for Perez straight up was really on the table, I guess I'd do it. But Perez had 39 saves last year and sadly I think someone still overpays for that.

Why would Terry Francona want Aceves when he is one of the guys who got him fired ? Remember he was going around telling everyone that he should be starter and then David Ortiz backed in public. Questioning Francona leadership.

Questioning Francona leadership. Excellent point. Can't see "Fran in a coma" wanting Aceves in his clubhouse, but maybe Cleveland could do the trade and then flip Aceves to a another team.
