Peter Gammons ? @pgammo Follow
Despite injuries, Giants not actively pursuing OF. If theydo, they want power. Inquired on Allen Craig, but Sox not interested in selling low 7:00 PM - 17 Mar 2015
Wondering what breaks the threshold of selling low on Craig is, or who do the Giants have that would be of interest to us?

I wouldn't make much of anything over that tweet. As soon as Pence got hurt, everyone started speculating about the Giants and Craig being a match, but it's just not a great fit. I gave my thoughts on the possibility here. Trading Craig right now would be selling extremely low -- he can't be worse than he was in 2014. Moving him just doesn't make sense.

Right, was wondering what the Giants would have to give up for the Red Sox to agree to trade Craig. I think it's a worthwhile discussion considering the outfield logjam and Craig's unique situation. Unlikely though.

Giants really have squat. Maybe Krick or Beede.

I agree with not trading him but even if he's better than in 2014 it's possible he loses value. If he's not good again but better than 2014 then you probably lose the people who would even take a flyer on him.

Crick maybe, since I think he ends up in the pen, but I don't really have a sense of how he's valued. I think they could get a better buy than Craig for him. I'd be pretty shocked to see the Giants deal Beede for any kind of temporary upgrade.

Giants really have squat. Maybe Krick or Beede. This is wildly ambitious. In general, I would be surprised if a team gave up meaningful prospect value and was willing to take on most/all of Craig's contract. Which, again, is why the Red Sox are likely to hold onto him.

Ok, then Lackey. I'm just not that interested in what the Giants have. Asking for a borderline top 100 prospect doesn't seem that crazy, if it is, we may as well hold onto him.

Given castillo's lack of at bats over the past year or so and victorino's health history over that same time period, selling low on Craig is not something I see bc contemplating.
